Advanced Beginner Gear Grab - Helpful for others too?

Alrighty then. I've managed to get irritated enough in about 15 dives to want my own gear (more or less) immediately. Like most of us, I have pockets that you can see the bottom of and want to choose wisely. I would consider myself an "advanced beginner" or "beginning advanced" due to...

Hello- I started diving one year ago. I have about 30 dives logged. I attempted to go diving 3 to 4 times a month. I’m currently working on my advanced with Padi. I just got a new BCD yesterday Scubapro hydros pro. I’m going diving this weekend to break it in. If your in Oahu message me and...

How to Avoid "Guided" Dives? I don't need/want my hand held.

Too many of the dive outfits "force" guided dives. A concern is that we prefer to not dive close to the group with beginners that stir up silt and scare everything away. As many of you know a good photographer likely has a pace that can be much slower than the rest of the group. If possible...

    Explorer 30 or Advanced 35

Greetings folks, quick question. Having briefly looked at what info is available on the internet does anyone know the difference/value of differentiating between the RAID Explorer 30 and Advanced 35 courses? Obviously other than having an advisory bottom limit of either 30 or 35 meters what...

    Crossing Agencies

My brother has been PADI OW certified since 1992 and I am a newly NAUI OW certified diver. We'd like to take AOW together. Is it possible to take AOW from an agency other than the one where you received OW? Asked another way (for clarity) - Can my PADI OW certified brother take NAUI's AOW course?

    Acceptance and Quality of ProTec

Hi, here on Gran Canaria/Spain, there isn't much Tec Diving. The only courses offered in English/German are Advanced Nitrox/Deco Procedures by ProTec, which holds a direct CMAS license (in comparison to being a local club like VDST in Germany or USOA in the US). And there's only one dive center...

    Phuket in March 2018

I'm planning a trip way in advance that will actually let me fly into Phuket for a few days towards the end of March 2018. I'm looking to do about 3 days of diving while I'm there. I'm just not sure where to start. I only have about 175 logged dives, so I'm no expert by any means...but I...

DDT Scuba Week - March 6, 2017 What is Advanced OW?

A favorite leadership discussion topic in our camp...what should advanced training look like, and what is an advanced diver. Today, we have another conversation with Hager, this time about Advanced Open Water training, after a brief culture topic. Outline: 1. Culture Topic (Japan) [0-2:17] 2...

    Hi from a vacationing diver

Hi, I'm James. A couple of years ago I had my arm twisted into going beneath the waves and now firmly believe - as our Open Water Instructor said - "The biggest mistake mankind ever made was learning to walk on land." Have completed my Advanced since but only get chance to dive each Summer...
