We dove with Scuba Shack in June. We had to be transported to another boat because their's was having some sort of mechanical problem. There were only 4 of us. So I suppose we would have been on that boat as well. Scary.....
I have been looking for a place to go that is upscale and that offers diving. We love to dive but not necessarily 3 times a day for 7 days. I wanted something that offered a little more (hiking, zip lining, etc. Nightlife not a concern). So after researching Caymans. Belize, Saba and Curacao I...
I am no expert on the Keys for sure, but I noticed no one answered your questions so I'll tell you what little I know. Most of the Key Largo area is shallow diving unless you are diving a wreck. We did 4 dives there last week and I believe the deepest I got was about 35'. The week we were there...
We leave for the Keys on Saturday. Can't wait. We are doing 4 dives with Scuba Shack on Tuesday. Glad to hear you would recommend them. We are staying just north of Marathon so may dive from our boat on Sombrero while the teens snorkel. Hope the seas aren't as rough as predicted.
Thanks for the response! We are kind of limiting ourselves to this side of the world to keep costs down as we have two kids in college and one heading to med school. Not to mention there may be two weddings to pay for in the future. :-/ Fiji and Bora Bora are dreams for us. We have always...
Oh, and one more thing. If you stay in Islamorada or Key Largo you have to see Molasses Reef. It's a bit of a boat ride from Islamorada but one of the prettiest reefs I've seen. We dove it a couple of years ago (and will be again next week) but there were snorkelers on the trip. They all loved it.
Over the years we have stayed at several places, never at Hawk's Cay though. We have stayed at Pines and Palms and Breezy Palms, both in Islamorada. They are pretty typical old Florida places, which we like. Pines and Palms has done some updating. Haven't been to Breezy in a few years. Both have...
We are relatively new to diving. We have done drift diving in West Palm and we have anchored in the Keys and the BVI. We love diving but also love fishing, hiking and mountain biking. We'd like to try zip lining some time. All that said, we do not need to incorporate all of that into this one...
In two years my husband and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage. My plan is to surprise him with a trip. In order to do that I need to start saving now and also thinking about a destination.
This is where I will need your help! Where shall I take him? Someplace tropical of course. I kind of...
Are you referring to Indian Harbor Beach, near Melbourne? If so I am sorry to tell you that you will have to head south. Closest is Jupiter (1 1/2 hour +) and then West Palm (2 hours). I believe there is an earlier thread here that talks about the area.
This post brings back wonderful memories. My husband and I got certified just so we could take a trip to the BVI. We sailed twice before down there (bareboat - meaning we sailed the boat ourselves). The last time we chartered a crewed cat with diving included in the rate. We got certified here...
I am interested in hearing the answer to this. I recently started looking into places to spend our 25th anniversary. I have kind of zeroed in on Turneffe Island Resort. Looks very nice. There are several trip reports about the resort. And it doesn't sound like it is a cruise ship destination.
