Here is a link to the course description from our webpage. It outlines the course modules and the skills that are covered in the open water section. I completely agree drbill, was one of the main reasons we developed it.
Here in Costa Rica we have been working on introducing more of a conservation and eco aspect to our divemaster and instructor programs. One of the things we have just put into action is our new Marine conservation and research qualification. We now offer this as a specialty course and as...
All of our Instructor courses here in Costa Rica coincide with the instructor exams and MSDT prep with enriched air is included. Something to think about.
Just my thoughts, having spent time in the past on both roatan and Utila who both have quality programs, but the party scene. Focus in Costa Rica is more specifically training and real world dive experience. We have a great dive school with some great training. Mix of candidates as well. Central...
Great advice here and you already have a good list of skills. From a business point of view, I look for computer skills and social media knowledge can be an advantage. This is not just knowledge of Facebook, but other means of media for example google+. I have hired people based on their...
If you send it in at the beginning of November it should be valid through to the end of December 2016. Ring them to make sure but they have done this in previous years with Divemaster and Instructor fees.
Look at Costa Rica, Playa del coco area. September time is good for Bat islands diving with the bull sharks, mantas and the local dive site conditions are around 60ft+ viz with lots of life including sharks, rays and more!
IN the area you have 2 choices, diving isla del caño which is a full day trip or a half day local trip. conditions can vary locally so best thing to do is ring up Oceans Unlimited when you arrive and you can get a true idea on what the conditions are like at that time. Happy bubbling!
Herradura divers is a great shop, unfortunately they are now closed until mid December. Tortuga island tour sounds good, I know the visibility can be on and off but it's a nice dive.
Costa Reefing it's a shame to hear you had such a "bad experience" repeatedly. I'll be honest void of life is a bit extreme I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBXgO_OlFbo Here's a video from last month that is clearly not void of life. It is rainy season yes and therefore it can affect the...
Congrats on your 100! I had the joy of running a DM program when a few people hit that mark. Needless to say it was an interesting day on the boat!! : )
On average for the skill circuit portion of the divemaster program, students would complete 3+ skill circuit practice sessions to get their skills to a good demonstration level, some more , some less. Each student is an individual with different personal levels of learning and for me, a...
Yes that is pretty accurate. you can eat basics rice and beans and you won't spend quite as much. When I lived there about 10 years ago I had a very basic cabin and paid $350 a month including utilities in a shared place, place food and drink on top. Its is a fun place though!
I didn't have to good an experience with Costa Rica adventure divers a couple of years ago. Dive times limited to 40 minutes. I have heard good about Osa and drake divers.
