    Where To Go???

All great recommendations, thank you to all. I've been in touch with Sunn Odyssey on Grand Bahama. It looks like a nice and accomodating place to stay and dive. Airfare from nw Florida seems to be a hassle though. We are still looking for an economical way to get down there from here.

    Where To Go???

We are open to anything, even Florida diving. What kind of viz is down there scubadada? I think I'll post in the Florida section, great idea. We were thinking the close Bahamas but are open to just about anything that is clearwater diving.

    Where To Go???

Thank you, started looking into Grand Bahama/Unexso this morning. That is right off Miami so a flight from here shouldn't take too long. Our diving around here is OK, but never really good viz. Thanks again!

    Where To Go???

We are looking to do a quick getaway. I was thinking about Bimini (we live near Pensacola, so we don't want to fly far, we just want a 3 or 4 day weekend trip), but I'm not sure I want to get my dive gear stolen or "rolled". I read that in a couple of places about Bimini. Anybody have any...

    What to do with AL80?

Thank you for all the great ideas. My PC crashed and I finally got a replacement (work won't let me on scubaboard, lol). I'm liking the idea of a lamp although I do not have a welder or a band saw that would be able to tackle it. To answer the other questions, no, the dive shop simply said it...

    What to do with AL80?

I took one of my old tanks in for VIP/Hydro... the shop said it was not usuable anymore, something about the mixture or AL or something. Anyway, what do you do with an old tank? If I cannot refill it I do not want it taking up space in my garage, what useful thing can I do? I thought about...

    Cenote Diving and Safety

My GF and I did some cenote dives a few years ago while in Cozumel. We fast-boated over to Playa Del Carmen, took a van ride to, if I remember right, Dos Ojos (2 eyes) and another one that I cannot remember. The dive shop was very strict about diving experience, etc, went thru the rule of thirds...

    Puerto Vallarta?

Well, we signed up for a single day with Sue from PV Sea Dive. From the emails we have swapped, it sounds like it is going to be a fun day. I'll post results when I get back, it is coming up in a couple of weeks!

    Puerto Vallarta?

Is the diving fair in PV? I dove there about 10 years ago with Chicos Dive shop. I don't remember them being good or bad, but I remember the vis being absolutely crappy. I think it was February, and the whales were still there, which meant lots of plankton... I should have known the vis was not...

Wife and I flying to Oahu, advice needed

Landlocked, send me a PM, possibly we can hook up on the phone. I've been here just short of 2 years, got in with one of the local dive clubs (not shops!) and have simply been diving my rear off with friends that I have met thru the dive club. Maybe I can hook you up or point you in the right...

    Manta Ray Dive in Kona

We moved to Oahu a couple years ago. We took a trip over to Kona and did this night manta dive with Big Island Divers. I was a bit skeptical, I usually shy away from these "too touristy" things. I will tell you, I've been diving for quite a while - this was one of the best dives I've ever done...

    A typical weekend dive vid

I used to frequent SB all the time, have really been out of it for a while. I moved to Oahu just over 2 years ago and instead of dreaming of diving more than actually diving, I am so very fortunate to dive all the time (notice I didn't say more than I dream about it, lol, I dream about it all...

    Kona Dive Report/ Dive Makai

So you just night dive in deep water? Sounds pretty cool, but also I would imagine a bit unnerving, lol. Do you use more lights than normal or do you just take your normal hand-held light?

    Kona Dive Report/ Dive Makai

Might I get back, somewhat, to the original thread and ask what a blackwater dive is? Never heard of it, and I googled Dive Makai and the website appears to be down. I looked at the facebook page quickly but did not see where any info about blackwater diving was...

    Drift dive issues in Cozumel?

I have dove Cozumel for many years, many trips. I absolutely love the drift wall dives there. You can, pending the boat and DM, simply fin over to look at something if you feel the need or want for a pic or just for a look. I highly recommend doing the Columbia Wall, the Santa Rosa Wall, and the...

Night Manta Ray Dives on Kona?

Alright, here goes... As I stated earlier, we booked this with Big Island Divers. What a class act this shop is. I *highly* recommend them. We did the 2 tank manta dive, the first dive was just before sunset. We saw whales very close on the way out, saw some dolphins spinning out of the water -...
