I don't of any quarries that deep in Jersey, have you tried Round Valley Reservior? It is in the State Park in Clinton, Hunterdon County. Not too much to see, but gets to 190'
It may be a drive, but Shark River, exit 98 on Parkway, a good place to start. DiversTwo.com has the information for a free group called Happy Hour. It's a gloose group of fifteen to twenty five divers diving the back bay (15 - 20 feet) or inlet (20 feet). There is always someone looking for a...
I would start at Shark River, there is a group called Happy Hour which dives there. It is a loose group of divers and instructors. My son and I dive with them often, the dives are in the twenty foot range. It was a great place to start. Check out the Divers Two website, they post when the group...
Sorry for the confusion, the milk bottles were from a dairy known to have gone out of business in the 1920's while the Sprite and Pepsi bottles were found mixed in with the milk bottles they do not appear to be anywhere near as old, judging by the amount of growth and sediment on and in the bottles
I would like to join in on this thread as well. I dont mean to be rude akdeepdiver, I was going to post a similar question as my son and I recovered an old Coca Coola bottle and an old Sprite bottle. We guess they were from the 1920's, we found them with a collection of milk bottles from a local...
Call Divers Two in Avon NJ, 732-776-7755, there is a group called Happy Hour run my Carol and Lance (a husband and wife team) they do a lot of beach diving in the Shark River. The group is made up of newly certified divers upto and including instructors. Everyone looks out for each other and has...
I have dove the Raritan Bay, vis was 2' and dark green. No vis at the bottom (40'). The bottom is soft mud that gets kicked up by the current. I would guess any artifacts would settle deep in the mud.
Reach out for Divers Two in Avon, or check out their website, a local group called Happy Hour does dives in the Shark River, both back bay and the inlet. It's a great place to start.
Thanks for your Service, hope all is well in reference to your award
Shark River, the basin off L Street Beach, is great to get wet and hone skills. Wlak in off the beach or use the "scuba stairs" near the tennis courts
Shark River Inlet is also good, enter from the River Ridge Apartments and ride the tide out, exit on the south beach (Belmar) and look for...
We have just set up a couple of days at Dutch Springs to complete our AOW course. Once done we will look into hitting the offshore wrecks. My son (16) and I have been moving at a slow pace, while have over 70 dives we are just going for AOW. After a few offshore dives we will look at getting...
While most of the previous posts refer to the offshore wrecks a number of beach dives are still decent. The twin wrecks off Elboran (ok, Monmouth county, not exactly south jersey) is great for spearfishing and easy beach dive.
The Barnegat Inlet and Longport Jetties are decent dives...
Dude.. bad move, get certified. All you are going to do is loose your buddies gear and have the Coast Guard do alot of work trying to save your sorry butt.
There are NO dive shops between Brick and Northfield
That's deep for us, anything planned for a shallower depth? We are working up to that depth, we have logged over fifty dives since being certified OW last year, but nothing more than 70'.
