    General diving info - Croatia

I recently came back from my diving vacation in Croatia. We ended up on the island Vis, in the city Komiza and dove for 5 days. I absolutely enjoyed diving there, although it was very different from the diving I have done before (which is diving in Thailand and diving in Sweden). I have...

    General diving info - Croatia

Hello all! I was very glad to see that there were some good posts about Croatian diving Me and 3 friends plan to go to Croatia for a week of diving in the beginning of august and I have a couple of questions maybe you guys could answer Should one dive in northern or southern Croatia? Any...

    Where do you dive?

I dive mostly in the local lake, which is Vättern in Sweden. Hopefully this summer I will do some diving at the swedish west coast and in southern Europe (most probably Croatia)

    Long knife better than short?

I only have a smaller knife on my BCD. Although I have never been in an entanglement situation. Since my buddy and I always keep close I guess I rely on my buddy to help me cut whatever I am entangled in if I can´t reach it.

Dive class - did you get your tank's worth?

On my OW dives we usually did dives at a maximum of 7 metres for a maximum of 30 min. We only did the excercises and did not swim around much. On my AOW we usually where under water until someone reached the lower limits.

    Where did you dive today?

Today we did a dive in Swedens second largest lake, called Vättern. We did one dive at about 8.30 pm, but it gets dark late here so noo problem!

    Bruises

Good to hear that I am not the only one then. As you say donFransisco, we can just hope no one thinks my boyfriend is hitting me :) I mostly do shore dives and as all of you say I guess it is easy to get bruises from all the heavy gear and walking around being clumsy... I actually never...

    Bruises

Hello all Scubaboarders. I have a question that might be stupid, but I will ask it any way. Everytime I get home from diving I am full of bruises. I bruise easily, but anyway. I don´t think I bump in to things to much, at least not under water. So my question is really: Does this...

    Hair control

I know what you mean. I do not have very long hair, but long enough for it to get everywhere. I have the "poodleinsocket"-look everyday, and curly hair is very hard to tame. I dive mostly in cold waters and have a hood which takes care of most of the problem. In warm waters I had a billion...

    Aow

I also took my AOW soon after my OW. As someone else said it felt more like a complement to the OW than "advanced diving". I also did my AOW the first days of a diving vacation in Thailand (I took my OW in Sweden). It felt good to do a night dive, do some more buoyancy training and so on...

    Challenge of cold water diving

Thanks everyone agin on the tips and for a nice discussion. I was not sure about the BC/suit inflator thing, but I guess that in all cases there is the "school book" variants and the "experience" variants of doing things. I am going to take your tips and use them during my next dives. As I...

    Challenge of cold water diving

Thanks for the tips so far! I sometimes get the feeling that I am at the surface before being able to the all the right things, like dumping air. It feels like I can´t get the air out fast enough. My BC is usually empty, I just use the dry suit for bouyancy. Should one use the BC also?

    Challenge of cold water diving

As a new diver trying to gain some experience and hopefully skills I absolutely have to agree about the buoyancy in shallow water. I have a dry suit (not neoprene, shell suit?) with thick thermal underwear for diving in swedish waters. I have no problem going down and staying down, but as...

    Where did you dive today?

Me and some friends continued testing our new gear and exploring ourselfs as "independent" divers in an old quarry (?). Maximum depth was 11 meters. The viz was ok, but we sometimes managed to stir the bottom a little, which made the visibility not so good at those times. We saw crayfish...

    Retractor

I was looking on the internet for Retractors to hang my compass (and other stuff) on. All the ones I find on the internet and in my LDS are so expensive. Are there any other kinds of jojo-like things you can use for diving or do I just have to face the facts and buy one of the expensive...

How long did you wait before ...

I got certified in october (AOW in nov) and I have just bought my own gear, drysuit, BC, regs and other stuff. I felt that it would be expensive to rent all that stuff each time I wanted to go diving (because from now on I want to dive alot!). The reason it took me so long was that I did not...

    Can hardly wait!

I took my OW in Sweden in october and my AOW in Thailand in november. I got so hooked on diving and I just can not wait to get in the water. The only thing in my head is diving, diving, diving. Still I haven´t been in the water since november. I have finally bought my own gear (although I...
