I'm headed to Grand Cayman July 14-21. Our first time there and we are staying all the way on the east end.
I'm a highly experienced diving photog and will be interested in best sites for wide angle and natural light video. (Shallower is fine if subjects and vis is good.)
What are the...
If you don't have a *very good* air-conditioned environment to assemble and load the camera up, and you put desiccant packs/strips in the housing, load the system up the night before or at least 8 hours prior to diving. If you load it too close to your dive time, they wont have time to dry the...
I haven't been to Coz in 10 years. Going to be on mainland first week of Aug and have time budget to spend one day in Coz.
I recall most dive shops run just early morning trips. I need to rely on the ferry, thus a later morning or afternoon boat trip is ideal. Any recent recos for...
Actually, the tightest spots are best done in 2-3 220 degree fisheyes on Backbone modified GoPros. Many are doing auto interiors with just two. 10 makes no sense unless you are doing stereo 360, and the parallax errors will be severe with close subjects.
I've been working with 360 underwater for about 2 years part time, ramping it up more in the last 6 months. You have no practical choice but to go AVP/APG tools for adaptive stitching and Metal Skybox tools in Premiere for editing 360 VR content now. I did this original one with FFMPEG and...
I'm expecting we'll need a new video subcategory for 360 VR within 18 months, but in the mean time, I remain on the bleeding edge. Is anyone else working in this format yet?

Here are a couple of 360 videos I shot underwater last March during the Weeki Wachee Warrior Challenge, a fund raising event for Wounded Warriors. This is using the custom multi-cam rig I built and first tested in 2012.

I was out on the Mohawk off Sanibel Island last weekend to follow up on the reef. Amazing life after two years. A lot of Goliath have moved in just as the aggregation/spawning season is ramping up.

Hi Florida Divers.
I'm looking to drive interest in a last minute trip out this weekend to dive the Wreck of the Baja California aboard liveaboard Ultimate Getaway. We need 3 more divers committed by Wed noon to make it go. The Baja California was a 265 freighter that was torpedoed by a...
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to drive interest to make a six-pack day dive trip to the USS Mohawk happen on Wed July 9th. We would go on Fantasea Scuba's "El Gavilan" out of Placida FL at 7am and be back by 3pm. Two tank dive, $125 ea. Here is a prior trip report I wrote when I went out with them...
Here is a new 360 degree interactive video I shot on the deck of the USS Vandenberg in June. The still image is one unwrapped frame grab from the video. To see the video, you need a browser on PC or Mac with the free Adobe Flash plugin. Mobile device technology is not up to speed to show 360...
A flat 360 panoramic from the bow of the USS Vandenberg in Key West. This is a frame from a ground breaking 360 video camera which can be seen here:

You can find very recent trip reports, videos, and photos specific to the Mohawk here. The guy that runs this site only list operators he has first hand experience with. The site works great on mobile devices:
