My Wife and I are looking at doing a dive trip in early January for 1-2 weeks and I am looking for suggestions- we are not interested in the Carribean- been there to many times already- open for anything else warm? And we would also like suggestions to discount dive travel sites...

Bigfame- one thing i would ask depending on where you get certified- Find out who the instructor is and ask to meet them before the class. Ask around about the person.

I know of KME in auburn, but can't speak to their service record.

Its not always the shop who provides the best service- but the folks that work there. Often there are staff changes. So get to know some folks and see where it goes from there.

Depending on how your diving skills are, I would still recommend a dry suit course from a certified instructor. You should get a presentation, pool dives and open water dives- This will should you how to care/maintain the suit, what to do if you run into an issue. You have now added another...

Over christmas I was in Playa- we met a few folks who would just take a bus from the airport and walk around to find a good deal on a hotel- They commonly ran from 50-75 depending on what you wanted. and often they had nice character and didn't have the big trendy resorty type of atmosphere.

you are buying enough you could probably negotiate. call around .

Sometimes you can catch some good deals at the summer sales around here- usually June/July- most shops will pricematch or compete with the pricing.
