How many rebreathers do I need to teach?

Whenever people ask me about rebreathers I tell them to research the subject, the available units and instructors as thoroughly as possible. Looking at it from a diver or potential students side, I couldn't care less how many unit tickets an instructor holds. Dave summed it up well: IMHO the...

Rebreather Question from a non-rebreather user

Has your question been answered or are you wondering more than when you posted the question? I'll give it a shot. First off, not every rebreather can be used at any depth. Different types of rebreathers were developed for different needs. The O2 rebreathers used by combat swimmers are a tool...

    Recurring Costs

Also, don't underestimate the recurring cost of buying another rebreather. Seems to happen to quite a few of us ... :shocked2:

My first (and unpleasant) rebreather experience

Thought I chime in, too. I've done three rebreather intros with three different instructors, spending time on four different units. I enjoyed all three of them, as well as the time I got to spend with those RBs in and out of the water. Deefstes, sorry to hear that for you it was such a bad...

    Hollis Prism 2 CCR

which is somewhat annoying. One question I can think of is whatever happened to the PRISM2 ? Some 70 odd threads in the back, last post May 28th, 2009 ... ain't happening, ain't it. :depressed:

If money was no issue...which CCR?

Steam Machines SM1600, a MK15.5 with PRISM electronics, if money is no objective. If it is, a simple PRISM is just fine.

    Atomic Aquatics Computer

I had a chance to look at and play with the new Atomics Aquatics dive computer at the German DIVE2010 last Saturday. It's a stunning piece of equipment, perfectly readable, compass works extremely well, and it's all very intuitive.

    Help identifying rebreather...

OTS makes an adapter for the DSVs of military for the military. The small gas space of the DSV is enough for their communication, they don't yap around much. For more or less "normal" speaking it's not well suited, though UW any conversations are better kept brief. There are some LAR/OTS...

    New Poseidon Rebreather Revealed

Great, Perrone, then they designed it correctly. ;) I hear what you're saying, and I agree. Just remember, the unit is specifically designed for normal, recreational diving in a PADI kind of way. No deco, no overhead. There are a bunch of images in the RBW gallery, too, maybe you find one...

    New Poseidon Rebreather Revealed

Very high stakes, George, very high stakes. Not just for Poseidon and Bill Stone, but for the rebreather market in general. There are still many places where rebreathers are shunned, and some where their use is restricted. If targeting recreational divers, and training them like that, goes...

    New Poseidon Rebreather Revealed

Correct, George. And from I was told in January the dive computer will switch to OC when the lever on the bailout valve is moved into that position. The Discovery is meant for recreational dive profiles, no overhead environ, no deco. The HUD in the BOV is very simple, pretty much a...
