I'm not sure, but I think that machine was designed for 3600 psi max. The worst thing I've heard about that compressor block was the failure of the cooling tubes. If there are any leaks when under pressure, replacements are almost impossible to find. Like the K-15 there are quite a few folks...
If the final stage discharge valve is the 7780 as I suspect, they have been discontinued, but I know someone in Texas that has several new ones he obtained when Mako sold off their Bauer parts inventory after they switched to Compair/Reavell.
Lawrence Factor makes them for 3 and 4 stage compressors. I've installed them before and have no complaints. When you order a unit make sure you provide the voltage you need. If it does't come with a muffler, you're going to need one.
Thanks for the link! That fitting on the tower shown is not the same as the one in the link and still looks like a barb fitting found in association with aquarium tubing. Are you saying that the fitting should be like the one in the link and not the one shown on the tower?
That filter housing looks like someones attempt at a Bauer "Securus". I don't see the monitor box though. However the fitting at one end looks like a low pressure fitting that a piece of plastic/nylon tubing would attach to. Not sure how that works. Also backing up the lack of a PMV (also...
In 1977 I was visiting some friends in Wheeling, West Virginia. They needed a few things to make dinner so we stopped at an A&P grocery store. I went in with them and there they were, Voit "duckfeet" with a fixed heel strap. Solid rubber with no adjustment. Must have been 30 pairs. I kick myself...
If you read his post, he is repairing 5-10 regulators a week and not filling 5-10 tanks a week. Personally, I'd choose a Bauer, either new or a used one in good condition. Since he is servicing scuba regulators, the filtration must be producing Grade E air. I'd be questioning the air quality of...
When I worked for a Mako distributor here in Florida, he had a client that had a Coltri Compaq 90 that was running it to 6000 psi. This was a fire dept. that claims Coltri USA told them it was made for that final pressure. When I was sent to deal with a problem, I found that one of the main...
It is a Bauer compressor block (old Purus). When Mako first started out they sold machines with Bauer blocks. The filter tower is a triplex tower and uses the same cartridge as a modern Triplex.
A Max Air 35 is a a Coltri MCH6. Ask Claudio if he still runs the case hardened, lower end connecting rod bearings on the soft steel of the crank shaft without races. Just saying.
No oil lubricated compressor is designed to produce breathing quality air by itself. The air must be properly filtered before it can be used as breathing air. I get a chuckle when people mention using "food grade oil".
