    Atomic Aquatics splitfins

I have tried other split fins, but haven't found any that I like better than my bio fins. I just purchased a second pair, the new firmer model with the spring strap. Most of my dive buddies also prefer bio's.

    Harness System Recommendations:?

I tried the continous harness set up and did not like, I prefer a quick release on the shoulder area. I switched to an OMS comfort harness, no shoulder or back pad, this seems to work the best for me.

    Bare vs Whites

I've owned two whites suits, both were custom dry suits. My first one a neoprene suit, held up well, fit was good, no complaints. Then I decided that I wanted to get away from the attached boot so I sold it and ordered a custom catalyst suit. Three of us ordered custom catalyst suits at the...

    HID bulb

I have a 10w dive rite light. I've heard the bulb replacement is spendy. I dropped my light head and cracked the reflector, bulb still works though. Any way, I called dive rite they recommend sending it them back to replace the bulb. Good luck.

    Used Whites Drysuit

I recently sold my custom Whites catalyst on ebay, it went for $800.00. The only option I added was the dry glove set up. This was my second Whites custom suit and I was disappointed with the fit. I have since switched to an off the shelf DUI CF200 suit, the fit was as good as a custom suit...

    "Not Weight Integrated"

I've used weight integrated BC's and found that for me a weight harness was the way to go. If you dive warmer water I suppose having adding another 5-6 pounds to your rig is no big deal. On the other hand, for those of us diving cold water and carry 20 - 25 pounds of ditchable weight, it makes...

    Life Insurance and Scuba diving

Recently we refianced our home and elected to include insurance in the event that one of us died the majority of the mortgage would be covered. One of the questions of the application asked if we participated in activites such as skydiving or scuba diving? Have any of you been denied...

    Opinions needed on BC&BP/W

Wants: weight integration, need pockets that can handle 12lbs each; 3-4 D-rings; low profile. Not too cumbersome to pack on long international trips. Good performance without a crotch strap. Looking at: Halycon Pioneer 36, Dive Rite Transpac, Zeagle Brigade, open to other suggestions. Any...

    BCD Pockets

I also dive a backplate and wing, the only pocket I have in a thigh pocket on my drysuit. Much of what you see with conventional BCD's is sales/marketing gimicks to sell product. Sometimes less is better, I like keeping it simple and uncluttered.

    hp vs lp tanks

I have owned both HP and now use LP tanks. I always got a good fill on my HP tanks at my LDS, but not always the case on the road. Have yet to get a short fill on my LP tanks. The smaller size of the HP tanks compared to the LP tank of equal volume is something to consider...

Cold Water Wetsuit - A Little Advice?

I dive cold water all the time, temps in the mid 40's, have done it wet, but switched to a dry suit. For me I'd pony up the extra $$ and make the investment in a dry suit, if you continue to dive cold water you'll end up buying one down the road.

    drysuit shell versus crushed neoprene.

I dive here in the PNW so I'm familiar with Hood Canal and Puget Sound. I tried both the shell and neoprene suits, while it' true, the neoprene takes longer to dry and is heavier, I'm more comfortable in the neoprene suit. If possible try both out before you buy and see which one you prefer.

Battle of the Back Inflation BCD's

Go for the backplate and wing set up. It offers the most flexibility especially if you decide to pursue tech diving. I do not like weight intergrated BCD's, if owned a few and dumped them for the bp/wing set up and DUI wt harness.

    Need help choosing dive system

You can save some money on your rig as others have mentioned. IMO, stick with a back plate and wing rig as it offers more flexibility. Halcyon is nice, but expensive. I have an Eclipse #40 wing, but combined it with an OMS comfort harness and Fred T back plate. About 99% of my diving is done...

Anyone use the DUI weight and Trim 2?

So far the DUI harness has worked out the best for me. I don't like weight intergrated BCD's, tried the Halcyon ACB system, weight belts slide off. IMO for me at least, the DUI harness offers the best of both worlds.

    Colder water wetsuit options

Sounds like you got your questions answered. I've made several dives in a 7mil wetsuit here in the PNW, before buying a drysuit. Diving wasn't as uncomfortable as the surface interval was.

Deep Sea Detectives.... why do I bother?

I enjoy the show most of the time, just wish it was in High Def.
