Wow I can't believe how long it's been since I was last on SB. I have missed the topics of discussion. I am just convelesing after a total knee replacement and it isn't fun. still to swollen and painful to do the exercises which is a double whammy, exercise = extreme pain, no exercise = no...
To save some money go to your LDS and checkout their rental gear, they often unload it at a greatly reduced price, it may be faded but I'll wager it is in top line condition. I went to the owner of the LDS I use and asked him if he could make me up a reg for $XXX.XX amount of dollars which he...
You forgot the % specialties you also need to be a Master Diver( makes for some more varied experience), where as for DM you need AOW rescue, EFR and 60 Dives, no specialties needed!
I just came back from a month in Puerto Aventuras which is about 25 km from Grand Mayan. I dive with Aquanauts Dive Shop there and have for 5 years. THEY ARE GREAT. Very safety conscious, the reefs are great and lots of wildlife. Also if you have non-divers they can do a swim with the Dolphins...

:dork2:I had a similiar event early in March, due to my own stupidity. I religously have my reg checked before my yearly month vacation in Mexico, but, this year I didn't check my BCD(DUMB) on my first dive I was a bit overweighted and added a little air to my BC and then took off for the...
"Again, my opinion. I don't think someone with a couple of classes and 50 dives should bear the title of "Master Diver". How about a new name?"

Your husband can dive and you and your son can just wade into the water and snorkel around the inner reef( about 150 ft off the beach) They have it marked with bouys so you don't get in the way of boats. Thell your husband to go to the Akumal Dive Centre, they are very good. My favorite dive...
If you are going to play with these guys you may want to visit your family Doctor first and get aperscription for an Epi-Pen and some Benadryl. Always good to be prepared.
I have 2 more tattoo's that I'm going to get this summer. One will be a scuba themed one. I'm going to do the Maple Leaf part of this art work. It will go on my Right back/shoulder.

"I'se da bye that builds da boat", welcome from Calgary, actually transplanted Bluenoser who's family is originally from Corner Brook. I agree with you I like the warm water as well. I took the Dry Suit course but feel like the Michilin Man when I have one of those hateful suits on.
Yeah, I know what you are saying. I see my Doc every year take my HTN meds , try to behave, only vice is Cigars and the odd drink. Was diving in Mexico this winter with no problems came home had chest discomfort, went to my Doc and now I'm waiting for 4X bypass. Summer diving gone!
It's a pain in the A$$ to get older! I just had my summer diving nipped in the bud by the need for a quadruple bypass. I had no problem while diving 17 times in PdC in Feb and March but walking up stairs just about did me in. Oh well I have to wait until next March and will get going again in...
Geez I thought all regs were set to free flow at 60 ft...LOL;)!
I had my regs serviced in Feb and after 10 dives it started to sputter air from the octo, had it tuned again and it was fine.
