I've used the Showa 720s for years with my Antares system and they have worked great. I find the nitrile gloves to give much more dexterity than the classic blue smurf gloves. They are a bit thin so the cold penetrates quickly. The nitrile material should seal well with the Ellipse system...
My DIY tumbler has a similar setup used for the drive shaft. I took a piece of iron gas pipe and found some rubber hose with an id that fit snuggly around the pipe. Everything was sourced from the Lowes and has worked great for about 10 years. I hope this helps.
Man that really stinks. At least you identified the problem so it can be repaired. Make sure you buy a replacement O-ring for the crank case flange. When I first pulled my unit apart that O-ring basically fell into pieces and it’s needed to seal the crank case correctly.
Coltri tweaked the MCH-6 into the current "Icon" series compressor. This new version has a 1740 psi overpressure release on the 3rd stage. Since this is close to the pressure you are getting out of the system, I would start my investigations with the 4th stage. The bottom 4th stage on this...
Sounds like a stuck valve, maybe the 3rd or 4th stage. There is a 100hr service kit that can be purchased to replace several wear items, including the valves on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stages.
The belt should only depress about 1cm. If it’s more then it could be loose. Belts should be changed every year so it probably needs done anyway. It’s a cheap maintenance item and would rule out a variable. The clicking could be a valve but I’m no expert on that particular topic. You might want...
I've had two suits with different types of soft socks. One was neoprene and my current suit is a nylon material. In both cases I have worn boots and I am absolutely certain I would have had leaks without the boots. Something as small as a pin hole is enough to soak your entire leg or more on...
I’ve been running mine with a stick for a few months and have had no issues so far. Thanks for posting the details from Coltri. I hadn’t thought about the increased heat and impact on the oil.
Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. I thought you were referring to the air coming from the condensate smelling like oil. Any oil smell in the produced air is definitely abnormal and needs to be resolved. The only time I ever had this issue was when in inadvertently bought the wrong...
Totally normal and nothing to be concerned about. The 4th stage sits in the oil sump and small amounts will seep into the separator. It’s important to drain the condensate regularly. I usually drain every 10 min or 8 min on really humid days in the summer. Also check the oil level before each...
I’m happy to help. Many folks on here have been very helpful to me and I’m just happy to return the favor.
I got the repackable filter from a shop in Germany. With shipping I think it was around $80, but at over $40 a filter for the disposable style it pays for itself quickly. If you buy one...
In my opinion, you can save the time/money and do that work yourself. You really need to learn this anyway as oil is done regularly and belts should be changed each year. Basic maintainence is really easy work to complete if you are even remotely handy with a wrench. Coltri has some wonderful...
If it comes to full pressure then it’s probably ok. I’d try turning the compressor by hand and see if it sticks. If the 4th stage is rusted, you’ll know.
The Bauer unit will undoubtedly last longer and perform better over time, but don't rule out the Coltri system. I have a Coltri MCH-6 and have been very happy with it's performance. You can pretty much eliminate the 4th stage water/rust issue by ensuring the unit is run up to pressure on a...
Due to medical and work issues, we have 3 openings on our booked 6 pack charter out of the Morehead City area on August 9-11th. The charter is on the Mutiny II, which is docked behind the Fisherman’s Inn just over the causeway to Atlantic Beach. Captain Al runs a great operation and staying at...
Probably referring to the fact that the DOT exemption on these tanks had expired in October of last year. A new exemption from DOT was released in December and the tanks are again good to go for another 5 years. Show them this from the DOT. If they still refuse, find a new shop...
