    Belize Aggressor IV mooring breaks

A saw recently that Kendra at Belize Diving & Snorkeling Resort | Glovers Reef | Off The Wall Belize mentioned she had some discounted trips coming up due to some openings (not sure of the dates). I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just that we've stayed there a few times and really...

Looking for Recommendations for Ambergris Caye Diving!

This all depends on the weather. You'll have two open water stretches to cross if you go out to the Blue hole. I haven't made the trip from Ambergris, but I've done it many times from Turneffe, and from Belize City out to Lighthouse. Most of the operations I've seen at the Blue Hole that come...

Trip Report Quick Trip Report to Belize:

Years ago we found a little gem of a place west of the airport called The Black Orchid Resort. It's a small family run business that sits on the Belize River. It has a restaurant/bar, pool and anything you would really need on site. They offer airport and city transfers and will arrange tours...

    Belize Aggressor IV mooring breaks

Like many things, it looks like it goes by a number of names. I'm not sure what year we first started seeing it, but it's been a while. Like some of the dorsal tagged females off Half Moon, it's pretty recognizable with those marks.

    Belize Aggressor IV mooring breaks

The shark in the last photo with the matching white spots on each side of its head is called "Bruno". I'm not sure how it got its name (or the white marks), but we've been seeing it for a number of years, usually off the Long Caye wall to the west. Unlike the Halfmoon Caye sharks that are very...

    Belize....Land & Sea

I would agree as others have suggested and split up the trip. My wife and I have been doing that lately and will again in January. The outer atolls have the better diving, but not as much for your wife to do while you're diving. If your pockets are a little deeper, Turneffe Island Resort is a...

Blackbird Caye resort vs Turneff Island resort

We've stayed at TIR a number of times and have really enjoyed it. We have usually stayed in December, before Christmas week when they have offered a price discount. If the price isn't an issue I know you will really enjoy it. The accommodations, staff, and food are all great. The diving is...

Recommendations for Belize Trip- Diver and Non Diver

Another option that may work for you is Anthony's Key Resort on Roatan. It's a little more budget friendly, They do 3 dives/day with 2 night dives/wk. as part of their package. They have a pool and bar area for your Mom during the day as well as a snorkel boat, if she's in to that. Some of...

Trip Report Belize on the Aggressor IV April 9-16, 2022

We usually return via Houston (United), DFW (American) and occasionally Denver (Southwest or United). I don't think we have ever cleared the whole customs/re-check process in less than an hour and a half. I usually try to have about 2 1/2 hours between connections just to be safe and get to...

Noticeable Difference In Mosquitoes Between These Resorts?

Long Caye has a fair amount of stagnant brackish water so there are quite a few mosquitoes. As has been mentioned, they only seem to be an issue right at dawn and dusk. If you are outside at those times you really need to have some spray on. Not a lot of breeze gets to the Huracan lodge...

Trip Report Huracan Dive Lodge Trip Report

Very good trip report and glad you enjoyed it. We are really looking forward to our return visit this February. I've mentioned it a few times on this forum before, but I'll throw it out here again if it's helpful. As a pre/post trip stay option outside of Belize City I highly recommend The...

    Lighthouse Reef atoll resorts

I'd fish pretty late and never saw one. I'd see tracks in the sand however when I walked the shoreline in the morning. :)

    Lighthouse Reef atoll resorts

I think we were there in December previously. As Stoo said, they weren't noticeable during mid-day, but at dawn and dusk you definitely wanted some spray. I would often fish off of the back service dock during the day when we had breaks from diving. It was as good a spot as any to get bit and...

    Lighthouse Reef atoll resorts

Yup, it's hot. The fans they had, at least at that time, were pretty poor at moving any air. We slept on top of the sheets, under mosquito nets. Didn't notice the bugs being bad inside the rooms however. The compositing toilets are in the adjoining bathroom and do have a bit of an odor as...

    Lighthouse Reef atoll resorts

Stoo is probably your resident expert on this one, and you could PM him if he doesn't respond soon. There are also a number of reviews on this site if you do a search or look for Stoo's comments. We stayed at Huracan a couple of years ago and are going back this February, I guess that says...

Advice - Travel to Belize - first time

It's interesting to see the various responses. We've been to Belize numerous times, as well as many places around the Caribbean, but Belize just keeps drawing us back. We have another 2 week trip booked for this February. I've always said that it's good we don't all like the same places or the...

    Hamanasi Resort to Turneffe

We're doing what Damselfish mentioned this February. There probably isn't an easy option between the two unless you're willing to shell out some significant money for a private transfer. We're staying a week out on Long Caye, returning to Belize City and taking a flight that same morning out of...

Belize in November or December- bad idea?

We've gone to Roatan and Belize a number of times in December, the majority of the trips the weather has been good. We have had a few times however were a front dipped down from the north and messed things up for a few days. In Roatan we had a front move in at the end of the week and it rained...

Asking for Turneffe dive resort recomendations

I'm interested in hearing what TIR's response is on an additional trip. I would guess it would be some big $$ if they'd consider it at all. You're looking at chartering one of their big boats and probably at least 4 staff for the day. TIR does have Nitrox and I've used it on one of our...

Asking for Turneffe dive resort recomendations

For a couple of years they had a 5-6 footer croc that would hang out in the mangroves across from the boats. You could splash the water at night and it would swim up to you. They had to relocate it as it got a little too friendly and there was some concern for the dogs.
