I had the same experience. Can't say enough good about them. Heidi was quite the fighter for me with DAN and Travel Allianz denying some of my claims.
Unfortunately, the guy in the chamber with me (can't remember his name) picked out the movies. Apparently, he was a huge Star Trek fan. I like...
Dr Piccolo (and his wife, Heidi) are absolutely the best! The care I received at the hospital in Cozumel was far better than any I have received here in the States.
1. The hospital staff contacted DAN before the 8th treatment. Ms Piccolo has dealt with this issue with them before. She knew that I would be denied but hoped they would change their decision after an appeal (They did not).
2. The staff contacted them immediately upon my arrival at the...
They warned me before calling DAN. Dr and Mrs Piccolo are very familiar with DAN since they are one of the main (if not the top) dive medical professionals on Cozumel. They said this was typical of DAN denying coverage for the treatment, regardless of a doctor's recommendation.
DAN did not act as my advocate. I had a DCS incident in Cozumel, several years ago. My doctor (Dr Piccolo) recommended an 8th chamber treatment. His wife, Heidi (who does his administrative work) told me that DAN wouldn't pay for it because they have a strict limit on the number of chamber...

On a positive note, down 80lbs since the incident.
Here is an example of the mindset that is continuing to prolong/exacerbate the pandemic here in the US.
I work for an engineering firm in PA. The governor has mandated telework here unless impossible as well as wearing masks indoors. We have been working from home for the most part since...
Several years ago, I had a serious DCS incident in Cozumel. A week of chamber treatments and another week at the resort before I was cleared to fly. DAN (primary insurance) covered everything but the 8th chamber treatment (This was picked up by my secondary insurance, Allianz.). Even covered an...
I brought the topic up with the doctors at the hyperbaric chamber. They didn't think it was likely. Subsequently, I went to my primary care physician back in the States who scheduled a test (echocardiogram, I think?). No indications of PFO.
From my post in another thread...
"This past summer, I worked 50-60 hrs/week the 2 months before my annual Cozumel dive trip to get my workload in order. The day before my flight, I picked up a college friend at the airport and we had dinner with a few other buddies about an hour away. Got home...
