    Need Advice for South Lombok

The daytrippers came from one of the other resorts run by DiveZone Lombok, though I can't recall which one. They did 2 dives, with lunch at the resort in between. You should probably ask the operator about the travel time and road conditions between the resorts if you're thinking of doing this...

Malapascua or anther island in Cebu for 5 days diving

Enough dive sites, definitely. But good diving? Not what my group experienced. Went there, not impressed.

Malapascua or anther island in Cebu for 5 days diving

If I were in your shoes I'd stay on Malapascua just long enough to see the threshers, the scoot south to Moalboal for the sardines. In my opinion, other than the threshers, Malapascua's dive sites don't offer enough to warrant 5 whole days of diving. Same goes for Moalboal - Pescador is worth a...

    Need Advice for South Lombok

We went for 3 dives x 3 days and that was about right. There are basically only 3 sites worth diving - The Magnet, Cathedral and Gili Sera. Once you've seen the hammerheads and mobulas there isn't any more to look forward to.

    Need Advice for South Lombok

I was at the Belongas Bay Lodge last year. If you stay there, go for the air-con room, it's not much more expensive, but a really massive improvement from the fan rooms. Great value for money. We booked directly with the resort. Package price included breakfast, with lunch and dinner charged...

You can buy air tickets online for Batavia (Sriwijaya too)

I managed to book Surabaya-Ambon on Batavia Air sometime last year in Singapore, using a credit card issued in Singapore. Funny thing was, if I load the Indonesian page and show the prices in Rupiah, the site won't accept my card, but if I load the Singapore page and have the prices shown in...

    Sipadan/Mabul 12 days enough?

12 days is too long. I would dive 6-7 days at most, with 2 days at Sipadan sufficient. The barracudas, jacks and bumpheads are all at one site, with the other sites being very similar to one another. Be aware that muck dives may be less enjoyable than at other places as some resorts limit dive...

Malapascua - Exotic Island vs. TSD vs. Evolution Diving

Other than 3 successful early morning dives at Monad, we did: 1 afternoon dive at Monad, in the hope of seeing mantas. This was the only time we went to the ‘old’ site, with the rope barrier. We saw one pegasus sea moth and nothing else in close to 60 minutes. 1 morning dive at Kimud to try...

Malapascua - Exotic Island vs. TSD vs. Evolution Diving

I dived with TSD in April. At Monad Shoal, we would always see a few other boats already there, in the same general area, but our boat did not go anywhere near them. Instead we jumped in quite a distance away, and saw many threshers and very few other divers. I don't know how true any claims of...

Bad service and safety in Indonesia...

Heh. If the dive operator promised a guide who knew the sites and currents well enough, but who instead turned out to be totally inexperienced and ended up leading the divers into dangerous currents, I've love to see anyone try to "postpone diving or select an alternate site with better...

Bad service and safety in Indonesia...

Clearly after all you've wrote you still don't get it. I wouldn't want an inexperienced dive guide leading me into dangerous currents he didn't expect because he simply didn't know the site well enough. Especially in a place like Komodo. Maybe that's fine for you.

Bad service and safety in Indonesia...

Not every diver owns all their equipment. Many rent. When you rent, surely you'd at least expect it to be in good working order? This is flat out wrong. You can't just go to Komodo's dive sites, plan your own dive, and drop in. An experienced guide is absolutely crucial. They were promised...

    Palau liveaboard, Best Choice

If you hate diving in crowds, then none of the 3 boats are suitable. On my recent trip to Palau, I saw the OH3 seemingly parked at a mooring point for days on end while divers were ferried to the dive sites on a speedboat. You may want to ask the operators how the dives are conducted - all in...

Trip Report: Komodo on Nusa Tara

Thanks for the trip report! My wife and I are considering a trip on this boat next year. How many guides were there for 6 divers?
