Thank you for sharing the details of such a tragic event. It was well documented & communicated.
Please excuse my lack of night diving experience - just one or 2 comments.
To me it seems that a night dive of 30 minutes or more is quite long.
Diving night dives to a depth of about 20 m for any...
I have been busy in other areas and have only read this sad news now. Condolences to her family and hubby . Tragic news ...i always checked and enjoyed her comments.
Such a shame to read about this tragic event ! Our sincere condolences go to his family.
I must say that i feel we have to dive regularly to keep us dive fit , heads straight ,dive routines fresh, and to ensure our equipment gets regular services and checks. I would really not dive after...
In still ride my bike ....to work leasurely when it suits me.
We used to party & dance the night away ...now i wonder why ???
I still love the diving part . My fitness & health is better now than 15 years ago...so i dive . LEKKER.
" I've had surge push me into places I didn't want to be and not bring me back out. To someone writing about it, this action could be considered a current because of what it did rather than the actual mechanism involved.
By my writing this you can tell I made it back out, but I was not sure I...
Great news that he was rescued ! Must be well experienced at diving to keep his cool while drifting so far from the coast. Drifting offshore at night could not have been something to look forward to...I am glad he is OK.
Glad to hear he made it out safely. To be trapped for 10 minutes by water pressure must bave been hectic! He must have put up a huge fight to get free !
Wel done to him.
Always tragic when a diver dies- for whatever reason. Condolences to his family & loved ones.
As far as dive operators are concerned -I know it is best to always be prepared for whatever situations arise ...but surely if a situation arises, you have to work it ! Work the problem-stop ,think...
Well done in making to correct decision ! Being uncomfortable under water can quickly change into panicking.
Always trust your instincts about this...and train often and regularly. Enjoy your diving.
It is such a shame that she had died after being resuscitated at the time of the incident !
Condolences to the diver's family and loved ones. So sorry for your loss.It seems a lot of non stop efforts have been done to get her back to life.
Glad to hear that the standard of emergency efforts...
Bad viz and strong current will be tough for most divers . Sad to read about this . Wonder where the dive bud was ? Also battling the conditions ? 20 divers make up a big group. Did they dive as one group ? 25 Metres dive is quite deep ...condolences to his family.
This is true...I always try to get mates of mine to join the scuba diving sport/family. One of my partners at the office did just that & did his course with a large diving shop. The day of his first dive , they were 10 students between the DM & support DM!
The hose of his regulator given to...
I also agree with above posts that December in Southern Africa travel becomes hectic as it is our festive/holiday season.
First of all ... crossing the border will be very slow...thousands of people are on their way home .
Secondly ..the season in December might have warmer water temps but...
Tragic loss again ! Several students this week that had died. This can not be right. Is anybody on the training side of the market looking at investigating why these students didn't make it ? Especially young students ? Training agencies ? You know 1 or at the most 2 students lost in a few...
Very sad to read about this . Once again I feel that new divers/diving students should be supported/led all the way through the training program...more so if conditions are a bit choppy or windy. For some people the training part is seriously nerve racking.
I have had to hold a student's hand...
I totally agree that a safe diver should be supported. It saves lives. Other divers learn from that. Diving and safety standards should be kept at a high level...especially in the company of new divers.
Always tragic to read about the death of a diver...even more so if it was a student diver. They talk a lot about the standards etc. but nothing about the actual dive like how deep ,how long , how many students with the instructor group? The water temp in Dubai ...should be warm ?
I believe that...
Glad he was rescued ! I would like to know what depth they were at ? We used to do some dives at another freshwater Aquarium locally but it was only about 3 m deep , so if anything had to go wrong , you had no problems at all of getting out of the tank ...the only worrying factor was the size of...
