Gentlemen,
May I refer you to my earlier post in this thread on the strap replacement which I did last year, and which is continuing to serve me perfectly well to this day. There are no signs of deterioration and the watch gets an absolute hammering, day in and day out, both in and out of the...
Here's an update, and some comments on what I did. I have made reference to this on the D4 strap replacement thread elsewhere in these forums.
First, I read BlueMarlin01's directions on the replacement (via the link given above in Post #8). Make sure to work on a lint and dust-free surface. I...
Here are pics of the Oceanic strap (that I picked up for $10) which I've adapted for the Suunto.
I notched the ends with a pair of wirecutters - as you can see I didn't do a very aesthetic job - but it has worked very reliably for the past year or so. I wear the watch daily, to the gym...
Mine failed after around 12 months. Fortunately it occurred on the boat rather than in the water! I have used a replacement strap made by Oceanic for the past year and it works great. Cost me around $10, as I recall. You might also take a look at modenawatch.com . . . I used an inexpensive...
There is a solution - I bought a strap from Modena watch co and though it is not an exact replacement, I made it work. Cost me about $11 or $12 bucks incl shipping and has performed beautifully for the past year.
Joe,
Did you ever get any info on this procedure? I saw on another forum that someone had changed the battery on the d4 but could not get any reply from the person. I'd like to know if you did it yourself or sent it to the service center.

Are there any Suunto D4 users out there with experience in replacing the battery themselves? I realize that Suunto recommends sending it to a service center but this takes time and apparently can cost between $55 and $160! I was also informed that the replacement involves just removing the two...
I replace the watch strap for my Suunto D4 with a nice one from Modena watch. Cost me about $11 with free shipping as I recall. The strap not only looks good but has performed perfectly for the past year. Great selection on their site and I'm sure you'll find something that works foryou...
Have any of you DIY'ers any experience with changing the battery on the D4? Suunto recommends sending it to a service center for replacement but that takes time and costs quite a bit more than the kit which is available on E-bay for around $10 bucks or so.
Any advice or instructions would be...
I had the strap fail on my D4 after about a year and a half. I replaced it with a rubber strap from Modena Watch for $12 or $13, free shipping.
It is not a perfect fit since it does not flare out towards the watch like the original strap but it has endured a lot of dives in the past three...
Very well put, Dumpster. I believe that he suffered SWB due to his exertions to recover the fish and lack of adequate surface recovery time.
About two years ago I blacked out after surfacing from a freedive to 70' but was extremely fortunate to have been rescued by two of my buddies who...
This is a great idea and thanks for putting this venue together. It should really help keep everyone 'in the loop' in between meetings and other get togethers. I'm excited to be a part of it.
