Well, hmm. I think it was maybe 2 and a little bit and we weren't going directly against it - no way, no how. Angling aganst it, yes.
"Tacking" about 45 degrees into it was plenty hard enough and I was *very* glad it was shallow. Current is confoozling - you ask n people and get n different...
Umm, when I dove the Vickery last weekend I had to go through customs (and then back through them again), so methinks that is on the US/NY side ;) Lots of wrecks on the NY side of the lake and river - the wreck map I bought in Brockville shows a whole lotta defunct shipping on that side (drooool...
Yeah - we were sneaking off to... get tank fills in Brockville ;).
Scuba-punk - that was definitely me. There's never a 'message rock' handy when you really need one.
I am glad to report that jon is hella fun to dive with and that he*insisted* on keeping the flag all to himself and doing...
On a related topic - what wrecks are we doing (planned - blowouts happen and then it's the Wolfe :D ) for those of us on Northern Melody's boat? This is just so I can get some tanks of EAN32 reserved if they are going to be deepish. Mmm hi-test :D
How many fools were driving dive boats this past weekend in Kingston anyways? AUGGHHHHHHH! This is going to have a rather negative effect on my safety stop gas consumption this weekend, unless we can get cannon mounted onto our dive boats in time.
tracker: I agree that eventually the...
Ok, FreeFloat and I are plotting some diving for Friday night (we were thinking deepish dark evil wreck :P ) but our third can't make it now :( . So hmm, any like-minded divers want to get in touch and see if we can make this happen? PM me for my cell (I will be on the road all day tomorrow...
Let me see if I have this right. They pulled up to a flag-flying dive boat without permission, when it had divers in the water at hmm, to them unknown depth? OMG. That could have meant an Evinrude haircut for someone, no? GRRRRRRRRRR.
Can we club together and buy you a harpoon, Jim? Small...
I wouldn't be so sure of that. When I saw him earlier today, Dennis looked mighty happy trying on a new Pioneer system (the big blue H's on the webbing looked very fetching with his colouration) and hmm, flirting *scandalously* with Dan Mackay. Sure it's "Dennis" and not "Denise"? :D
Fin Solo...
Whipped with spring staps and forced to watch fundies videos? That kind of treatment is extra! Spike, baby - I want a bigger cut of the ransom now (a cruller *and* a maple Bavarian...).
Ok, I am in, if there is room, and I guess I will find out when I stop by NTD today. Only catch is that for the Saturday dives I will need a buddy as mine is likely to be playing in a rugby tournament unless they get their butts kicked today ;) (they better not break my buddy or there will be...
Looks like I am going to be down East for that period (80% certainty) so - dive dive dive! (So long as it's wrecks, wrecks, wrecks!). June, Tom - how do I get onto a waiting list?
Hmm, why do I suspect that was not the royal "We"
Hehe - ok, brief thread hijack then back to your regularly scheduled beating. Am headed east towards the latter half of August, possibly into early September and you know how well I manage to resist the lure of all those Kingston...
Sigh. Deepsix, I replied to your PM before reading this thread. I am now rather sorry I did so. I understand your concerns but I find the approach you chose to take in this thread... distasteful. It does not take a chemist or toxicologist to understand that there is a fundamental difference...
Too late. :D
Spec - your plan to sink the current ferry and snitch its brass lacks ambition, especially when you consider how much freighter traffic passes down that river every day....
Hear, hear. It's worth noting that this is a sport where stupidity can KILL you AND your buddies - I'd rather be thought rude than have to live with wondering whether or not my restraint had contributed to someone's death. If I'm doing something Darwinish, I certainly want to hear about it...
Mine are the SPs (intervening posts about Apeks happened while I was typing). I was starting to wonder (shop here sells that reg a fair bit to cold water divers :D ) until vlada posted - hers have a lot more dives than mine do and under far more extreme circumstances (depth, air T, etc.). Mine...
Well, that's my reg, too, and so far, so good, down to 34F with 39F being a fairly common temp for the stuff I did last summer. Only had it about a year though, and only about - hmm - 40 or so dives in water below 50F? YMMV
Tell me about it. AmyJ - the manufacturers don't like tall, "rangy" women, either, for the most part (don't know if that's a comfort or not). I had a tough time finding a suit and finally went back and bought a 7mm 2-pc that I had rented. Also pounced on a lighter fullsuit that I happened to...
Erm, they'd fit me just fine - even though none of your other gear would, except maybe your boots! I wear M jets too and need thick socks inside the size 6 boots to make them fit at all, grrr. (Someone definitely ordered the wrong size feet for someone of my height but I can't find the...
