    Intro To Technical Diving

Just a note... if anyone is thinking about expanding their diving experience and/or expertise this course is one of the best. I'd say Rescue is the first course that really challenges you to be a better, safer diver and then this one makes you understand better why you dive the way you do, how...

Need dive shop recommendations for St. Thomas.

I highly recommend Admiralty Dive Shop. Dove with them this spring and had a GREAT time. I did a write up on the trip back in April/May, should be easy to find.

Dive Report- Yukon and Ruby E

Just wanted to give kudos to Waterhorse Charters and their excellent boat and crew on the Humboldt! Dove with them this weekend while taking my TDI Adv Wreck course. The boat is perfect for tech divers as well as rec divers and Ryan and Anita at first rate, being both helpful & knowledgeable...

More advice on dry suit purchase please

I purchased a Whites Fusion Tech Ltd earlier this year after trying several different dry suits. In short, I love it... I am 6' but went for the XXL so I have extra room, which due to the design is snugged up via the out layer. That way I can easily wear as much underlayer is I like. Coldest...

Set-up and choose and Dive Rite wing !

For what its worth I use both a TransPlate and TransPak using the DiveRite Rec Wing. When tech diving, using doubles I use my plate. When rec diving and general single tank diving I use the TransPac which is more comfortable, for me. If I had to pick one... I'd go with the TransPak since most...

    those pesky careless moments ...

Bob, great meeting you for the class and great posts. Again sorry I congested (coming down with a cold that I still have today, just ending) and bailed on you guys. I know it wasn't easy getting a new buddy thrown on you along with all the other task loading. Congrats on making it thru...

Excellent Lodging in Florida Cave Country

If anyone is looking for a great, convenient place to stay in Florida Cave Country here is a wonderful house to rent right in the middle of things, in Ft. White. It has been upgraded with divers in mind with a nice deck, place for drying gear, charging all our toys, etc. The owners are avid...

    Tech Computer advice.

Ditto the other posts... Deco Procedures is about planning and learning what you need to know. A computer is the backup to your planned dive... That said I bit the bullet and got the X1 - love it and its fantastic for these older eyes! Multi-Gas and CCR ready. And the easiest to use computer...

    Getting wet down the front...

From my local LDS who (rightful, thankfully) persuaded me to check it out - thank you Dive Addicts). Do check it out... you won't be disappointed. Do wish it had a simple inside pocket though for keys...

    Utah Lakes data sheets

I'm seriously thinking about switching to sidemount... the more I study it the more I want a Nomad. So much more flexible... I'm going to set up some time with Josh to check it out...

    Utah Lakes data sheets

Glad to hear you got a settlement Art... lemme know anytime you need time in doubles (or any other diving). jlovelady, ditto what Art said... there are more than a few divers around who love to get out. I'd add to Art's list Deer Creek which is ok and close to the Crater. Also my current...

    p-valve in Fusion

I installed the dive rite valve with no problem in the Tech Ltd skin. One note, for the 5/8" hole i simply sharpened with my dremel tool a 1/2" copper pipe coupling. OD dimension is a smidgen over 5/8" and work perfect for a nice clean round hole.

    Getting wet down the front...

I'd second these points. I have a Fusion Tech Ltd and recently started also using the Fourth Element base layer/wicking layer and its fantastic... it pulls all moisture (sweat or otherwise) away from your body so you stay dry. It also seems to dry quicker during surface intervals. Love my Fusion...

    Training in your own gear

In hindsight I've much more enjoyed and learned more in classes where I had my own equipment. I think its due to the fact that you have a limited number of tasks/distractions you can focus on and if your focused/distracted with rental 'issues' or simply that the rental gear is somehow different...

Out of air emergency at 105 feet

It occurred to me after re-reading many of the threads that the underlying concern of many, after assuring the safety of the rescued diver, was reducing the risk of DCS in particular especially on multi-dive, multi-day dives. From my general reading's and some technical training it seems...

Excessive sweating in my Fusion drysuit

I have a Fusion as well and love it. I think this is a phenomena of all dry suits which by definition don't 'breather' like say GoreTex. Its a plastic bag basically... I think some mosture, aka sweat, is unavoidable and the best I can do is pace myself whihc it sounds like your doing. One tip I...

Out of air emergency at 105 feet

Kudos as well, you handled yourself as a very experienced and well trained diver. As others have said your first responsibility is to yourself. Given the depth and week long diving I would have done the safety stop, normally after several days diving I begin to lengthen safety stops...

Homestead Crater Lake- 7/30 to 8/5?

We'll be diving in the Crater this Sunday (7/26). Should be more than warm... down right hot (likely 95 or so degrees...) Doing drills wth doubles. Crater is great for skills... always consistent. I did a dive last week at Strawberry Res @ Mud Creek and it was excellent! Not deep (only 23'...

    Hood for fusion

I'd reinforce the recommendaiton for the White's Heat Hood. It's an excellent hood, fits comfortably and is really warm. It seals well and has little water infiltration. I use it with my White Fusion Tech Ltd which is an amazing Dry Suit!
