On April 22nd, while vacationing in Hawaii, I received a call from a long time dive buddy. A diver's body had been found in Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Belton, Texas the day before. Upon my return, I discovered that the diver was Bob Tarbet. Bob had contacted me last year after seeing my name...

Oahu Report April 20 Thru 27

My wife and I just returned form a week's vacation in Oahu. We lived there (Ft Shafter) from 1990 to 1994 so this was more of a trip down memory lane than anything else. I did however have the chance to make three outstanding boat dives with Kaimana Divers. Because of unavoidable boat issues...

Right in my back yard (almost)

Yes, this is kind of lengthy but I think it is good info, especially for anyone looking for a new dive spot and I didn't want to put all of this in the dive condition thread. Yesterday, I made two dives in Lake Belton. It is about ten minutes from my home. Lake Belton does not have a good...

    Small backup depth guage?

I have been looking for a small depth gauge that I can keep in my bc pocket as a backup to my computer. When I say small, I mean something smaller than the typical gauge found in a console that would take up less space in a pocket. I am not interested in purchasing another dive watch with...

First dive with Hollis F2's in the Comal River

Today I made a few dives in the Comal River, New Braunfels, TX. The Comal remains at 72 degrees year round. The section we dive is approx. 250 yards long and maybe 50 yds at the widest point. Depth is 5 to 12 ft. Visibility today was 30 ft +. There is a steady, moderate current. It was the...

Rapid Exhaust corregated hose for HD100?

Does Hollis offer a rapid exhaust (pull dump) corregated hose for their HD100 BC? If not, will another, ie. Dive Rite rapid exhaust hose fit the HD100? I recently switched from a Sherwood Avid BC and really miss the pull dump option.

Remote Exhaust Dump Valve on Hollis HD100

I would like to replace the current corregated hose on my Hollis HD100 with the exhaust dump valve style (slight pull the hose vents air out of the bc). I had this on my prior BC (Sherwood Avid) and prefer it. The HD100 hose uses an elbow out of the bag. Can this be easily replaced with the...

    Scubapro Customer Service Kudos

A few years ago, I purchased a 5/4 Everflex suit and have really enjoyed it. Approximately 10 months after I purchased it, the left sleeve tore at the point where the computer/watch retention tab is attached. It was sent in and Scubapro repaired it under warranty. A few weeks ago, it tore...
