    Curacao Security

I have heard a lot about security issues on Bonaire, as far as rental cars being broken into and things being stolen from some hotel rooms, etc. Does Curacao have similar problems. Is there a problem with rental cars being broken into while shore divin

Should I log these dives or not?

If you are breathing under the water with scuba equipment, I would call it a dive.

    Weather or Not to Dive

I think you have to decide if you can safely enter and exit the water. Also, it depends on how experienced the divers are.

Should I report this and to whom?

When I was a paratrooper in the Army occasionally someone would freeze in the door and we would help him out and they would usually be better on subsequent jumps. However, I do not see what the hurry was to get you under the water before you were ready. This is supposed to be a fun form of...

What do you do besides Scuba?

With busy work schedule it is difficult to do too many activities. But I live near several ski resorts, so do that as much as possible in the winter. Summer time I bike and and hike in the mountains, camp, fish, hunt. Try to hit the gym about 5 days a week.

    Crime in Bonaire?

There seems to be on going issues with this type of crime in Bonaire. Since this appears to be an on going problem, it amazes me that govenrment officials in Bonaire refuse to address the problem. Of course, vandalising and stealing things from cars is not the same as robbery and murder, but it...

    bahama dive centers

I dove with Sturat Cove's in June of 2002. Had a great time. It is a busy operation but the staff was very friendly and helpfull. They were good with new divers. We stayed at the Atlantis on Paradise Island. We were picked up every morning and it was about a 45 minute ride. No restroom on the...

    Burmuda Diving?

I have been diving in Burmuda a couple of times in conjunction with business trips. It is different than Caribean diving. The reefs are OK but not great. Lot's of wrecks, but most are broken up. The water gets cold in the winter months. I dove in April and used a 5 mm and the water was choppy...

    StingRay City

When I went on the SRC dive everybody was talking about the stingrays leaving marks on your exposed skin, mistaking it for food. This is no big deal. They suck in their food and they will only do this to your exposed skin if they smell food on it.

Good place in Nassau to buy diving gear?

I've been on a couple of dive trips to Nassau and I wouldn't by any dive gear unless it is an emergency. Very expensive and limited selection.

Aruba, Cayman. Who to dive with?

We went to Grand Cayman as new divers and had a great time. Since you don't have a lot of time you may want to consider some shore diving near Georgetown. Bob Sotos and a couple of other dive shops are within walking distance of where the shuttle from the cruise ship drops you off. You don't...

    Looking for Dive Recomendations

I spent a week in Grand Cayman and never had a bad dive. There is some fun shore diving close to Georgetown where the cruise shuttle drops off passengers on shore (within walking distance). I enjoyed diving the wreck of the Oro Verde which is accessed by boat.

    Bahamas, St. Lucia, or Antigua

I dove in the Bahanas about a year ago.We dove with Stuart Cove's operation which is on the other side of the island from the Sandal's resort. It is a bit of a drive but the diving was great! We dove 5 days and saw sharks on almost every dive. It is expensive and very commercial on Nassau.

Who was born or lived near water

I grew up near water, but this was not the reason for getting into diving. My family and I were on a vacation in the Bahamas and I started up a conversation with a dive instructor at the hotel pool and tried a resort course and the rest is history.

Update on Sandals Montego Bay (long)

WE had a problem with a large remora in the Bahamas. It went from person to person trying to attach itself. It actually tried to get onto the dive platform when everyone exited the water.
