    Taking pictures while diving

Thanks, I've seen the back kick. I should have said, "It's hard for me to back up." :)

Dumbest things you've seen a newbie diver do

Dumb thing - underwater communication. My buddy and I (my wife and I) were taking one of our "exploratory classes" for PADI AOW - it was Peak Performance Buoyancy. They were of course asking each of us to do the buddah hover with legs crossed while the rest of us were planted on our knees in...

    Taking pictures while diving

The nice things about my Kodak Playsport Zx3 are that: Waterproof to 10' - so don't have to have housing for underwater shallow dives - like a pool, or shallow snorkeling. If it floods, it's water proof. Relatively cheap - ~$150 Housing was relatively cheap ~ $200. Swappable memory and...

    Taking pictures while diving

I'm a still fairly new diver (what I consider as <100 dives) - but I did just get back from our last Caribbean vacation (Caymans) and I shot video for the first time. A couple observations and recommendations: GoPro - I agree and was going to recommend this camera - for a digital camera, and...

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

I just got back from my trip - had a great time and really liked the BP/W setup! Only problem I had is losing one of my wing nuts for my STA. My tank started floating away from the bottom - ended the dive with one hand holding onto the tank to keep it by my butt! Fortunately, being on a...

    Octo Holder Recommendation?

I wound up getting a necklace like this from Divers-Supply. My wife laughed at me, :dork2: but I liked it - never had a problem with the octo coming loose and it was in my "triangle" of where it should be. Here's a pic of like the one I got: Here's me on the bridge of the Kittiwake -...

    Octo Holder Recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a good octo holder - so it's not dragging behind me, hitting stuff, etc.? I have this one, and don't like it - it's always coming out: Innovative Scuba Rubber Octo Holder @ Divers-Supply.com Thanks

Thinking about PADI "Wreck Diving" Cert

Hey Jimthediver, I think you got it exactly right. I'm about 3 hours from the coast, and would like to dive out there. I probably need to pick up dry suit diving - and get experience doing it - first. Thanks, PC

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

Iztok - I definitely would like to hook up with you and other locals for the quarry. I've thought about getting into dry, might have to move that up on the things to do list. ;) BVickery - yeah, lost about 50lbs bouyancy since Feb. Got another 60lbs to go. I've found this great site, Free...

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

Just talked to Rob at Divers-Supply CLT and he's going to order the HOG singles wing for me and I'll exchange the one I have for it.

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

Well, I went in wanting a back inflate jacket. I walked out with, I think an Edge back inflate jacket, size xl. I got home and was messing with it and realized that the waist strap was close to being cinched down all the way. I'm 215lbs (down from 265) and continuing to lose weight - so I...

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

DevonDiver - will it be a problem? If I'm careful not to inflate it? Do I NEED to exchange it for a smaller wing? I don't want to be dangerous to my safety. I know the lift capacity is overkill.

NewB BP/W Question - This wing for a single tank?

Hi all, Just got my first BP/W from my LDS - Divers Supply. I got the "house brand" Sea Elite EBS 60Lbs with compression cord. I plan on taking it to Caymans for a week of boat diving and a week of shore/boat diving. The first week on the Cayman Aggressor. It's my understanding they...

Thinking about PADI "Wreck Diving" Cert

LMAO. Thanks for all the GREAT replies, I really appreciate you "guys" taking the time to reply in such detail. I think with the risk of wreck penetration, my limited experience, and the "randomness" of just taking whatever instructor happens to be on the boat - I'm going to wait on starting...

Thinking about PADI "Wreck Diving" Cert

I've got AOW, Nitrox, Rescue. Going to Caymans on Aggressor in August - and it looks like there's some cool wrecks we'll be diving on - the Kittiwake and a Russian ship. So, I'm kind of a "by the book" guy :dork2: - and would stay out of wrecks unless a DM said, "swim through, from here to...

    PADI vs NAUI

Hi guys, I recently took a PADI rescue course, and it was my first time in colder water (I'm a WWW). At 30', the water in the quarry got down to 59 degrees F. I was diving my 3mm merino lined first, then later added gloves and hood. Point is, after diving I was discussing the water temp...

Picked up PADI Rescue Diver this weekend

The main thing I learned, is to slow down. Slow down to think and not just react. Reacting got me in trouble, thinking I was able to solve problems thrown at me.
