Housing my 40d - (Sea & Sea, Nexus or Subal??)

Pakman, once again thanks for useful reply. I feel that if I can live with the small niggles (hence me being keen to find what people find as niggles on the S&S) then for the price which is cheaper than Subal etc (esp. as I can get trade on the S&S) then its going to be my best option...

Housing my 40d - (Sea & Sea, Nexus or Subal??)

Hi Pakman.. thanks for reply.. yes I had heard the S&S didnt have the best button layout in the world. You get on with yours ok though? Are there any 40d camera functions that are NOT possible to use through the housing buttons? I have the chance to go and play with a S&S next weekend, the...

Galapagos & Ecuador: hauling a suitcase

I spent 5 weeks travelling in Ecuador and Galapagos, returning earlier this month, without a seconds hesitation I would recommend staying in Amazon Inn Hostel for any nights in Quito. I used it as my base, I was travelling alone and had a full set of dive gear, climbing gear, photography gear...

    Sea Sickness

And just to add to the above and totally kill any confusion caused by my wording here is a link to what I actually do use: nuun | optimal hydration

    Sea Sickness

Yes I think I confused matters by my use of the word "tablets" The rehydration tablets in question are exactly the same as rehydration sachets which when disovled in water provide a drink which helps to replace lost water and electolytes as you have quoted above. Not tablets taken whole but...

    Sea Sickness

Thanks again. As you say its wise to go with what the doc recommends, however my doc isnt a diver so I did want to go prepared with a few possibilites to talk through with her. Re your question as to where and when, dates are still a little hazy as waiting for conformation but its looking like...

    Sea Sickness

Thanks to all the comments and advice.... From what I have read on here and a little bit of digging around I think I will give the patch a try, will see if my doc will do me a prescription for it and then aim to try and get out in some conditions that seem to affect me and see what the result is.

    Sea Sickness

After being pretty seasick you tend to be dehydrated and a way to help combat dehydration is to take a rehydration solution, sometimes in powder format or sometimes tablet. In fact the only effective treatment for dehydration is to replace lost fluids. I happened to be sharing my cabin with a...

    Sea Sickness

Looks like on the whole the patch does get the thumbs up. Interesting to read you can then get sea sick on land after taking it off! Still as long as it doesnt interfere with diving thats the main thing. My next trip is shark diving for two weeks out in South Africa - how many patches would...

    Sea Sickness

Which magazine is this? (I am in the UK so might not be able to get hold of it if its a US one) Is it published on line at all?

    Sea Sickness

Thanks for the positive comments re patches, I am hoping they do the trick. RobinT - yes I agree Galapagos and being sea sick do go together rather well, but believe me when I start being sea sick I get it pretty bad! Next trip is off to South Africa and I know its going to get pretty rough...

    Sea Sickness

Thanks but as I said in the original post I was taking a daily dose of ginger. I realise the patches can work differently on individuals but would be interested to hear feedback from anyone that has used them. Or of course any alternative options that I may not know of....

    Sea Sickness

I can at times suffer quite badly from sea sickness which isn’t really the best combination with diving and wondered if anyone had any advice? I have just returned from Wolf and Darwin out in the Galapagos, I knew it was likely to be rough so went prepared, only what to find what I had...

Palau Sams Tours/West Plaza Hotel Malakal

I stayed at the West Plaza and dived with Sams Tours in Feb of this year, I found the hotel to be basic, but clean and perfectly acceptable for what I wanted, its also close by to Sams so you can walk (although they will pick you up/drop you off at your request). Re the diving, again no...
