    RIP Dr. Bill

I haven't logged in in 10 years, I had to stop diving. Dr Bill was a staple of the island. So down to Earth and likable. Anyone who loves the ocean was his family and he treated people as such. So many times I felt like my visit to Casino Point wasn't complete if I didn't bump into him...

    Cuda 400 battery problem

Ben, thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I haven't used the scooter yet since the 5 hour charge (that was this morning) but plan to soon and will report on the run time.

    Cuda 400 battery problem

I have a new Cuda 400 that I bought in May or June 2012. This past Saturday was the 4th dive with it. I have never depleted the battery yet and charge it just before using it. On Saturday I did about 20 minutes of burn time in 4th and 5th gears towing a buddy (me in dry suit him in wet, both...

    Hero3 Black testing underwater

I was speaking of the Black Edition. That's what I used the Flip for, night dives above water to set the mood/stage/whatever. I could never get any 'keeper' shots at night above water with the other point-and-shots (I've never used a GoPro before). In water, I always used a light at night...

    Hero3 Black testing underwater

One of the things I liked most about the FlipHD over all the other cams of the same market segment was that it had the best low-light performance. How much better is the H3? I've been entertaining the thought of getting an H3 Black but now I might be sold.

SCUBAPRO New parts for life program

Unless this is a joke, I'd answer: a colony.

SCUBAPRO New parts for life program

Nah! They just cut costs by using the same ones they had rather than making new ones. If I didn't just ditch all my ScubaPros and finally settle purely on HOG regs, I might have purchased the black edition -- that is one suh-weeet lookin' reg. But having to keep papers in order, dealers...

How much should an airfill be?

Where I live, a set of double 100's filled with blended 32% runs $40 is is right on the cusp of what I'm willing to tolerate but very begrudgingly (they do offer a $200/year unlimited NITROX plan which makes it moot). I'll also happily pay for trimix fills -- which are not cheap these days...

    Finding potential drysuit leak

I think it's the Apeks valve. I don't dive shrinkwrap anymore.

    Finding potential drysuit leak

If it was just an arm/arms/chest I'd think it was the seals. But in this case it is everywhere but the socks. I use a 4th Element Xerotherm. It was warm enough to me for the 55* water I dive in, but when wet and on a 3rd dive it is shivering.

    Finding potential drysuit leak

My past few dives I've been removing the drysuit to find my undergarments are beyand just damp but not drenched. It's a 1 year old drysuit with only 15 dives on it. I do not yet know if it is leaking or if I'm just sweating profusely. What is the procedure for determining whether your DR has...

How much should an airfill be?

This would be the best way. A local shop started doing that until Dept. of Weights and Measure got involved and decided they weren't measuring accurately enough and so the shop went back to "service charge" for a tank. But no one charges fills locally based on the volume of the tank. They...

How much should an airfill be?

For me, it wouldn't be about saving money but about accessibility. I cannot always get to a shop during their business hours to get a fill if I need one. Most shops near me only blend NITROX in tanks with their own VIP sticker (meaning I have to have different tanks for different shops). The...

How much should an airfill be?

That's cheap! The most local shop to me charges $20/tank for a NITROX fill and only my doubles are clean enough for blending (no one withing a reasonable 60 minute driving distance from me banks or coninuous blends/membranes). I'd love to pay $10/tank for 32%.

    Gropers

I was in an AOW class once with my wife when she was doing kelp dives exercises in the pool. Her bra had shifted which completely exposed here breasts (her the only female in the midst of many men). No one bothered to tell her even while their eyes were on her for a few minutes like that while...

    Scuba Instructor in Southern CA?

I also recommend Unified Team Diving. You should give AG a call and discuss your options (855) 348-3883. They just certified hundreds of new Open Water divers this summer in SoCal. They are well-trained, beautiful in the water, and fun to be around. There is a UTD instructor in Orange County...

    Love my new Cuda 650!

I put a kayak compass at the nose of my Cuda. I wasn't too fond of using an SK7 at the handle. It was more worth it to me than putting a GoPro there, but most of my buddies prefer the GoPro and the vids come out flippin' awesome! Friggin'-A', a 650? You can survive a live aboard with one of...

    Love my new Cuda 650!

Awesome! I love my Cuda 400! Still in the process of dialing it in but these things really open up new possibilities in range! Do strap a GoPro and post some vids!
