I stay well away from morays that are out free swimming in the daytime. One of my most "interesting" underwater sights was a moray nosing around, just off Fantasy Island towards the Prince Albert. Suddenly he flushed out a lobster, which shot up and away at high speed. The moray pursued...
I took two chargers and NIMH batteries, enough (i.e. two sets for each item)
to support a number of flashlights, two photo strobes, one personal locator strobe.
Islands like this already have quite a trash problem, and would rather
that you not be leaving items that officially need special...
the 110a has 20% more power, and a bit more beam angle coverage. It also has the ability to fire with an electrical cable and do through the lens flash exposure control, but your Canon housing doesn't have the hot shoe anyway, so no different for you.
I have a pair of ys-27 strobes. I found...
No, I just mount the UFL-165AD directly on the Inon 28AD mount base.
I did have to do one thing, which is put a shim I made between the mount and the front bezel of the camera. The shim was made from thin plastic, 1mm thick. Any thinner than ~0.8mm, and the lens would bottom out on the...
Bonaire photos
These were shot with the S90 in the Canon housing, with Inon 28AD wet lens adapter.
I forgot to zoom for the first 3 photos with the UFL-165AD, which were shot at 28mm and had lots of vignetting, so I cropped them. The next two photos were shot with the UFL-165AD at 35mm...
My S50 Canon housing came with defog. Once I discovered silica gel moisture packets, I stopped using it. The defog didn't work very well anyway, but didn't affect the picture quality until it fogged.
They also swapped the position of the RING FUNC and POWER buttons. That would probably drive you crazy, if you go back and forth between the s90 and s95.
I hope they fixed the erratic focus in macro that several of us have experienced.
Hi Michele,
Have you tried your local dive shops? Most shops organize at least a couple of tropical trips per year, as well as local ones. There are probably local dive clubs too. Any of these can be good places to meet new friends for dive and travel.
I'm assuming that you have been...
Along this general topic, someone took the bother to measure the minimum field of view for each S90 focal length (closest focus for each) and found that there is more magnification available at ~40mm than at 28mm.
Re: Min field width and max aperture vs focal length: Canon Talk Forum: Digital...
Yes I have. It's been a while since I was playing with it at home, but it could misfocus at 6 inches, 10 inches, as well as close to the 2 inch minimum. Others here (at least those that shoot macro) have reported similar problems with the S90. I sent mine back to get a hot pixel mapped out...
Looks good. Whatever your total rig weighs, it will be about 2.5% of that amount more buoyant in salt than in fresh. e.g., if it weighs 3#, it will be about 0.025*3*16 = 1.2 ounces more buoyant.
Gilligan -- your camera has better built in macro capability than the S90, but I agree about the limitations (at least in my hands) of the UCL165 lens.
MdkSniper -- I have found the S90 focus in macro to be erratic, even sitting at my desk at home. It will happily lock while out of focus. One...
I had a bit of trouble fitting the Sea&Sea packs in my Canon S90 housing, but have
no trouble putting the indicating gel packs I usually use, which are thinner
