and have a few questions.
One, does anyone bring their small (or large!) dive knives?
Two, (this is a stupid question, I know) Do they have one gallon water bottles on the island? If not, I guess I will bring my own.
Three, any suggestions for truck rental? Any particular company that is...
Yeah, I saw that one. I was looking for used ones, as well., I'm a little confused on the 60 psi = 140' thing. I thought 1 atm = 15 psi, so 60 psi = 4 atm. 4 atm of water pressure is at 99', right? Or, is my scuba math incorrect?
I'm planning on testing without the camera in the housing!:D
Thats a great idea! Anyway, where do you get a water filter that big? I only have 60psi water pressure, I guess that would be adequate.
Thanks for the replies! From a different perspective; obviously small amounts of salt water get on the inside of the plunger shafts, so how do you clean the inside? Do you (or should you) ever rinse the inside?
Can you put silicone or other oring lube on the shafts? If I use Sea and Sea...
How about this idea. Can I use a pressure paint pot as a pressure tester for camera housings? If I filled up the pot half way with water, weighted the housing to sit unter the water and pressurized it, would that be simulating dive depth? Most pressure pots are rated for a max 80 psi, that's...
I am preparing for our upcoming trip to Curacao this winter. I pulled one of my Canon housings out of storage, put the o-ring in and did a dunk test in a trash barrel full of water. I pressed all the buttons several times and left it at the bottom for an hour. Upon retrieval, I noticed that...
Does anyone know where I can get an advance copy for trip planning purposes? I am willing to pay for it, but I would like to get one soon, so that I can plan out my vacation for end of March. I would order from a dive shop in Curacao directly, but I know mail could take three to four weeks...
That's great to hear, as we are staying nearby Playa Kalki! Bari Reef was probably our favorite overall dive site in Bonaire; we rented tanks from Wannadive right on Eden beach and dove the southern end of the reef day and night. Very memorable, indeed!
That sounds great! I take it your location is in the south?
Anyway, our plans are set, we will be there the last week and a half in March. We will be renting a vehicle, probably a truck, and will be staying in Westpunt.
Time to poll everyone on their rcommended dive sites...!
Hey Sunshine, so I think I'm getting it now... Ahh, Google Maps. It seems that the All West apartments are NOT right next to the dive shop, as I had assumed. Correct? When Bryan was speaking about on site tanks, he means that they have an offsite tanks storage at the apartments. Please...
Bryan, am I correct in believing that Marazul is about a half mile from the dive shop? That's the way it looks in Google Maps. What are the shop's regular hours, and is there access to 24 hour tanks if I don't stay at All West? Is using the storage lockers only for people staying at All West?
Did get a pricelist from Allwest and although we are leaning towards Marazul for our room (as it has a small pool) we are planning on purchasing our Nitrox from Go West, (which is you guys, correct?) So, a couple of questions for you. It looks like you are within a half a mile or so from...
So I take it that your opinion is that I shouldn't worry about buying my air fro one op? Well, that's a relief, because the one thing that I love about Bonaire is the unlimited tanks from a single op situation! Load up what you want and go wherever you want.
And I would agree about a sandy...
I have read in this forum that there are some sites that request/require that you purchase air from them in order to dive. What is the reality of that situation, and if I purchase unlimited Nitrox from one op, will I be limited in my dive site selection?
Bonaire was obviously much different...
I'm planning on a dive trip to Curacao this winter (probably mid-March) and want as much of a "Bonaire" type experience as possible. We are shore divers generally, and love the freedom of diving on our own terms and dive plans. We were in Bonaire a couple of years ago, and loved it. We would...
