    Can't decide

Many divers in Palm Beach dive with these.....and the looseness with attendant ballooning is commonplace...As you suggest, poor fitting might well be the issue. For me to buy one, I'd want both perfect fit, AND a smoother rubbery type surface ( but without the air cells of neoprene and buoyancy...

DEMA Returns to New Orleans in 2020. Why?

After the emptiest DEMA Show I have ever attended ( last week Orlando) , I would imagine that many exhibitors, forced to spend thousands on DEMA --- would love the ability to "Drink their sorrows away" each night at the much better Drinking venue of New Orleans! :-) They won't make any more...

    Can't decide

Of the existing hi tech fabric suits..like Sharkskin, Thermocline and others...is there one with both hi tech insulation, AND a slicker exterior for lower drag through the water? I have seen plenty of divers with fabric suits that literally balloon with the water flowing into them, and the drag...

    Cramps, causes and prevention

Yikes! Frank, you have some nice Z Gear products, but I don't think you looked in to sports drink nutrition like you did into your gear! While the original Gatorade from back in the 1960's was based on what athletes lose in their sweat--and was significantly better than water for athletes like...

    Help in choosing bc.

In this scenario, tropical....I think a better thinking process, is what tanks would be smart to use....and which would not be. An al 80 will always have great buoyancy issues in tropical water....but for some divers it is not enough volume for the depth and duration they desire. They could...

    Help in choosing bc.

The OP should let us know if he will be diving tropical water temps, or cold water...as Storker says, this will make a real impact in choices. I will add also, that if the choice exists to dive one, or the other...then the new diver should go with tropical only for as long as possible. Most...

    Static times

I am fine just squeezing my nose through the mask, and blowing into it to as deep as 90 feet....any deeper and I would need to do rib/stretching excercises, as when I have exceeded this depth in the past, I get something like bruising of the lungs. More over, if I was spearfishing at 90 feet...

    Static times

I am not sure what the big deal is about freediving deeper than 90 feet..... Most of the better reefs to enjoy for a freediver, will be between 30 and 70 feet...more time on the reef, better planning for finding what you want to see....better safety in drops at this depth than deeper than...

Upcoming New Fins and Fin Technologies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbscaFZ2BIw& Here is a look at Ron's monofin AND his new bi-fins, at the Pumphouse off Singer Island. He is a bit light, as he thought I would have weights to give him....but beyond that, this should showcase how effective these fins are in the high current tide...

Going to Florida in Nov. a few questions.

Obvious Troll. Another reason each poster on Scuba Board should be either posting as a real person with confirmed identity...or if not this, then with a screen name that is tied to a real identity that Netdoc or other site admin, must confirm as a real identity. The OP thinks he is being...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

There are a few posters with screen names, that post like a real person....Akimbo is certainly one of these....and he presents like someone we have known for many years... and then there are other posters, that say things and act in a manner that no real person would...but still they are allowed...

We would use double al 80s that were "jacked".. I always had far more trimix left than needed...no different today.

Thanks John, And George, Bill and Dr Bill did a great deal of Doppler while they were developing the tables. I even got into a couple of those doppler studies :-) ---------- Post added November 3rd, 2015 at 03:30 PM ---------- Thanks for being obnoxious beyond belief BoulderJohn. And you...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

Hi Ken, Yes I do know you, and I know you are also friends with Bill :-) I will likely see him this weekend, and discuss this....One thing that I am certain of, is that IF he was to share some George table stuff...it could NEVER be shared on Scubaboard, but would have to be only to a couple of...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

Bill Mee and George Irvine ( my dive buddies) and Dr Bill Hamilton, would be considered "Deco Experts. They created this set of tables, for George and JJ...and Exploration Team members diving with them on the WKPP in the late 90's. If George or Bill wanted to share their tables with some current...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

They need to carry more gas, so they have more drag, have to work harder pulling this. They do deeper stops, ingassing more nitrogen during ascent, and have to do more deco from their deco. Longer decos means bigger problems if a buddy has an emergency. ---------- Post added November 2nd, 2015...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

Not bragging. I made a post indicating that I don't like taking the risk of using tables created for a statistically average diver ( including the 25% with PFO's that should never have been included in the sample) ....I dont plan on believing that those tables will be as good for me as were...

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

I think you would have to visit and dive with Bill and I for this to be possible.....I don't want to be passing this around digitally. And I want to know and dive with anyone I would give this to.

    Thoughts on Bounce Dives

My personal statistics mean more to me than a "population statistic" ...To me, doing what worked so well in my past, IS THE LOWEST RISK. ....In any event, I am NOT trying to lobby anyone to do what Bill and I do. In fact, if it makes you feel better, I would be happy to stipulate that the...
