    Qualifications beyond OW?

There is a balance that has to be struck between training and real world diving. I meet divers who are "we'll trained" but all their diving is during their courses. Then I meet divers who dive often but could use some refinement . You have to ask yourself what conditions will you be diving in...

    New Bare SB System Drysuit.

I am in NL as well and decided on the Bare HD Tech Trilam as well. I really liked the SB but am not sure how it will hold up and I was a little cold with just the two layers of undergarments. I did not have the chance to try it with the vest as well.

    BP/W banned in DM Course

I don't see the big deal. I would let you use it as long as you could demo the skills properly in the rig. When you think about the skills required in OW classes they can all be done in a BP/W or Vest. Not much sense having the divers certified and giving them a mindset only one gear config...

    DM not helping students

Flots You make some assumptions, one that all recreational scuba divers dive from a boat. Second they will be able to float while waiting. If they have a malfunction in their buoyancy device and say are warm water diving without a wetsuit for additional buoyancy then they would be in a...

    New Bare SB System Drysuit.

The fusion always reminded me of something a ballet dancer would wear so I could never buy one. I did just test a Bare SB and it is truley the next step in dry suit design. I will post a full review after a few more dives.

    Hello, Brand new

Welcome evonder You get what you pay for when it comes to scuba gear. However if you know what to look around you can get a deal on used equipment. Check out the classified section on this board or ebay. I would have no issues buying mask, fins online as long as you know what fits you etc...

Can Rec divers enjoy Truk ?

I am sure they do but that does not make it safe. I see people do things that are dangerous all the time and get away with it but I like to mitigate my risks. Just sayin.

    Flooding your mask with Contacts??

Hi EFB, You could look into getting a mask with prescription lens that would probably be the easy way to go. If you keep your eyes closed while flooding the mask it will also help but there is always the chance of the contact coming out. A safety sausage is a signal device for showing your...

Can Rec divers enjoy Truk ?

I do not want to hijack this thread so if you would like to PM me we can discuss this in private, in the meantime have a read of this article http://www.direxplorers.com/new-dir-articles/1376-rock-bottom.html I am not a DIR diver however I do like allot of their reasoning’s. If you do...

Can Rec divers enjoy Truk ?

Maybe I misunderstood you and I did chop this quote up to make my point but are you saying you went to 140' on an AL 80. If so I would not be giving that advice to anyone. If you or your buddy was to have a failure you were both in major trouble to say the least. Single tank diving to...

    New diver help

The more you do that skill the easier it gets. Practice in the shallow end or even stick you face in your bath tub and just use your snorkel to breath but no mask. It will get better just relax a bit and realize it is a "skill" and will take practice to get good at it. Good luck

    regs for Maritime Canada diving?

Aqua Lung and Scuba Pro both make nice cold water regs that would work well on the Cape, check out Torpedo Rays in Halifax. They have decent prices and good service departments.
