Where to go in the Philippines April 2024.

Hard to add Mindanao to the list of places to visit with a State Department Level 3 assigned. Nice offer. Interested in hearing report from anyone that goes.

    Where To Stay In Anilao

Interesting, so you booked Buceo and then left for Aiyanar. But, still used Buceo for shuttles to Manila? Are you saying you preferred the accommodations at Buceo over Aiyanar, but the food was better at Aiyanar? Did you find the dive facilities, dive masters/guides equal?? Thanks, just trying...

    Question Philippines rules on knives

I think this has gone a little far a field for a simple question. I don't think it would be an issue. There were some malls and such with metal detectors that I had to go through on Bohol. So maybe leave it behind if you're doing that. Otherwise, you should be fine. I sometimes travel with a...

Where to go in the Philippines April 2024.

We had a good trip to Bolhol. Dove in Anda at Magic Oceans. Good macro and reef. Plus whale sharks if you want. Heading back to Philippines in Sept to Anilao.

    Where To Stay In Anilao

Wife wants to stay at Aiyanar, so we will go there. Food was deciding factor for her. We are veggie and Buceo had mediocre food options. I would have been fine with Buceo... I am all about photos and post dive cocktail. After that, I'm happy with standard cheese pizza or pasta. Aiyanar is...

    Dome Performance: Ikelite/Nauticam/Zen

For some reason my last post didn't make it... The new cameras have amazing eye locking AF which works great for fish and wildlife. The R6MkII AF is even better, but at a decrease in megapixels. Hopefully R5 gets one more firmware update before the MkII.

    Dome Performance: Ikelite/Nauticam/Zen

I would see no reason to go Sony, especially if you already own Nikon and Canon. The 5DMkIV is a great camera, but why go with an old camera? Unless you're chomping to get there or have am upcoming trip... I would suggest waiting for the Canon R5 MkII. Once invest in a housing, you're lock in...

    Dome Performance: Ikelite/Nauticam/Zen

What camera do you use above water? Are you Canon? If so, lenses are typically 100mm f/2.8, 16-36 f/2.8 or f/4 and 8-15 fisheye. I use Ikelite with an R5. Have always used Ikelite and never found a reason to go with a more expensive housing. YMMV. If you use Sony, then build around Sony would be...

    Where To Stay In Anilao

Not so worried about the food. There for the diving. But, still prefer not to eat the same thing everyday. Will follow up with Buceo with questions as it sounds like they are easy to work with. Thanks again everyone for the input.
