Wall dive and Kittiwake two tank dive trip

Visiting Grand Cayman via cruise ship in April, 2014, arriving at 8AM, leaving at 5PM. I'm looking for suggestions as to who I can arrange a dive trip with for a two tank dive for myself and daughter/son-in-law. We'd like to do a wall dive and follow that up with a dive on the Kittiwake. I'd...

    Tank Age??

I use the same dive shop as you for my fills. They are a good shop and reasonable. I do find it odd though that they won't fill a tank that has been hydro'd recently?! This is their policy. Shouldn't all of us expect our tanks to be safe, period, if they have been recently hydro tested?

Got checked by an EPO today

Is the playback speed increased, or are frames dropped? Seems to be a bit "quick".

    Freshwater Eel

I have seen eels measuring several feet long in West Hill pond in northwest Connecticut, arguably the cleanest lake in CT. That lake is located at 930' elevation. It is spring fed and drains via a stream that eventually finds its way to the Farmington river, which then drains into to the CT...

    Strobe and rechargeable batteries??

I would only use the the newer NiMH technology cells that are low discharge. You can identify these because it says that they come pre-charged on the package. I know Duracell makes them. They keep their charge in-between uses.

To buy an external strobe or the sealife 1400pro

One should point out that the Sea and Sea YS-01 strobe also has TTL, albeit at an increased cost compared to the YS-02 strobe.

To buy an external strobe or the sealife 1400pro

I've been debating the same issue for the past year. I have a Canon point and shoot with a housing that performs very well both above and underwater. It even has an underwater mode to reduce blue-green hue. Its strobe is fine for closeups and the video is good as well, but I want more strobe...

    Is SeaLife wrong?

That camera was found in Grand Cayman. The original poster of this thread lost theirs in Catalina. That's some distance to travel!

Fort Wetherill report, Divers Cove saves the day

My kids and I dove Ft. Wetherill yesterday and met up with New England Aquarium Dive Club for their tropical fish rescue. Beautiful weather, water temp 63, vis about 10-15 feet. More than a dozen spotfin butterfly fish were rescued and one damsel fish. We dove from the the westerly beach in...

    Sealife DC1400 questions

From the manufacturer's Sealife forum on Scubaboard: "I am afraid the Dc1400 is a unique camera and will not fit into the DC1200 housing. However all the accessories will work with the DC1400 with the exception of the Wide Angle lens. The DC1400 has a 26mm lens that is uber wide and can...

Ahhh. I see there are comments about it on the other Sealife thread.

    Sealife DC1400 questions

I suppose that the first question should be, where did you hear/read about a DC1400?

    Wetherill conditions

Thinking of diving Wetherill this weekend after previous plans for the tropical rescue dive on 8/27 got canceled due to TS Irene. Has anyone dove here recently and can they report on conditions? Any chance tropicals are still around?

New with the DC 1200 and have no idea what i'm doing wrong

Don't use auto white balance. You can see how it is changing in the first video.

    Any confirmed tropical sightings yet?

Where did you see the dive was rescheduled? I can't find any reference to that on their website.

    Any confirmed tropical sightings yet?

Thanks. That's why I asked. It appears that the "rescue dive" was scheduled under the assumption that the fish would be there.

    review Sealife Mini II

Here you go. This was from a recent trip using a now outdated Canon SD750 point and shoot and a Canon underwater housing from Leisurepro. No external flash at all. https://picasaweb.google.com/109392968306178851670/CrownPrincessDiveTripsToGrandCaymanNorthWallAndRoatan

    review Sealife Mini II

I'm not impressed with either the various photos I've seen posted here from this camera over the past months, or with the opinions of the Mini II hardware others have posted. I get much better shots with my Canon Powershot SD750 in a Canon u/w housing from Leisurepro. I have no hardware...
