    Subtropical storm Alberto?

Dove with Cayman Turtle Divers and Ocean Frontiers at Compass Point Dive Resort last month. Ocean Frontiers has over 50 dive sites setup in the area that they go to, but many on the north side, even with relatively good weather, were inaccessible because of wave action. Still, we dove the...

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

Thanks. I'll look into some of these. The shop where I bought her gear package carries Suunto, or used to. I'll see what they have. Thanks again.

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

Thank you! It was an Aqualung all in one. I need to go dig it up to get the model number. I'm taking it into the shop where I bought it this afternoon.

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

I don't know anything about it. I have a Petrel, but that is for technical diving. Is this a recreational dive computer?

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

In my opinion, all in one is a single point of failure, and that is exactly what happened. It isn't that a wrist computer can't flood or a guage can't flood. It is just that you lose everything all at once with an all in one. I won't buy another all in one.

It was an Aqualung all in one. I'll have to go dig up the model number. I'm going to take it in to the shop where we bought it today.

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

Thanks for the feedback. Part of the issue is that I purchased all of her gear as part of a package from a dive shop locally. When you do that, you limit your choices. I'm going to probably do some searching with some reputable sops online and order it online. The dive shop is telling us to...

    Replacement for Aqualung all-in-one Computer

So I spent the last couple of years getting my fiance certified and interested in SCUBA. We got married on April 14th (Thank you very much!) and went to Grand Cayman on our honeymoon. On the very first dive, (and on the Kittiwake wreck), her all-in-one computer/dive watch/depth guage/tank...

    38 degrees with neoprene drysuit

It also depends on the depth of the dive. As soon as you start compressing that neoprene as you descend, you will get even colder. I have been to 150' in 45 degrees in an Aqualung 8/7 mil, and I was freezing, as in shivering. Ascending to 65 degrees at the deco stop felt almost like I was in...

Winter Jetty Fest 2010 Jan 22-24

The problem is not just the temperature, but the depth. 53 at the surface is not the same as 53 at 100 feet. I got cold on the dive I was on at 150, and it was 46 at that depth. The deeper you go, the less suit you have, and you get colder as the water generally also gets colder.

Winter Jetty Fest 2010 Jan 22-24

I dove my 8/7 semidry in the North Atlantic in 2008 because the temps were supposed to be mid-fifties. It was 46 at depth, and I had to thumb the dive after 35 minutes BT because I have never been so cold in all my life. If it gets warmer at depth through thermoclines, if you get that deep...

    Sea & Sea YS-110a vs Inon S2000

Has anyone used the YS-250? More expensive but works to a deeper depth and more powerful.

Whiskey Wreck report 25 Nov 2009

I took the Nomad out to the beach in Panama City last year, and it like to kill me. Too much weight hanging out of the shallow water. If the walk were not so long, it would not be so bad, but having to lug those tanks through the water is brutal. I love the SM in the caves, but salt water (at...

    Dive Rite Thigh Pocket

I used it successfully on my wetsuits until I got a dry suit. There is a world of difference between a dry suit pocket and a thigh pocket. It can get you by, but you really want to have the pocket glued on. You need to run the top strap through the waste harness, and then clip the two thigh...

    How common are OOA incidents?

I was on a guided drift dive on the Rampage off West Palm Beach in the summer of 1999. I was with a buddy that is a big guy (250 lbs), hadn't dove in a while, and really sucked down the air. Before I was half empty and as a newbie diver myself (it was my first non-training dive after OW), he...

    New Orleans Diving

"Blue" is the operative word, not to mention that the average depth of Lake Ponchartrain is 15 feet. Hardly worth getting wet for, but I know the Captain does it. Maybe with a metal detector and some treasure maps, it would be worthwhile. Otherwise, it is just a way to get snagged on a fish...

    New Orleans Diving

Unless you own your own boat (I know of ZERO dive ops in the New Orleans area, and all open water courses are completed east of there as well), and care to brave the seas and go through all the hassles of driving for 3+ hours in a boat after 2+ hours towing your boat, then I would recommend...

    Editing software...

I use Lightroom for 99% of what I do. For recovering old photos, it doesn't handle scratches well, but for everything else, it does everything including web pages and slide shows. I have pretty much replaced Photoshop and only use Lightroom now.
