Death in Cocos from shark attack

I was at Cocos 2 weeks ago on a private sailboat. Saw a Tiger most dives in the channel between Manuelita and the main island. On our first dive I was surface support in the small inflatable tender we used. Since it was so small and light I decided to snorkel over the two other divers in my...

    Gear trade

The only noticeable upgrade would be the balanced and adjustable venturi of the Legend 2nd stage. The ABS might be considered a downgrade. My advice would be to keep the computer and 21's. If you want to keep a eye out for a balanced 2nd stage you could replace it for your primary...

    Help ID this regulator

I believe it comes from the era when oceanic had 3 1st stages. Unbalanced piston, balanced piston and balanced diaphragm.....and that's what they were called. Yours is the diaphragm.

looking for very specific regulator design...

If you also want to eliminate the swivel turret and still keep the end port you have a choice of an Atomic (Z I think it's called) but it has at least half a dozen LP ports. Scubapro MK1 (1 plus 1), MK8 (4 plus 2) or MK9 (5 plus 2). You could get creative and marry a MK1 with a MK8 and end up...

I don't believe there is a reg meeting your requirements. There are many with 5 plus 2.

Why limit the number of ports? There are plenty of regs with more but I cant think of a single one with a straight through end port with 3LP and 1HP. Nearest to your wish is a very early Scubapro MK5 (might be called the MK1) with 1 plus 1. Next a MK8 with 4 plus 2.

    Conshelf fans welcomed

Actual Conshelf DIN converters turn up from time to time on eBay. 1st gen Titan converters also work as do their enviro kits (as well as the ones for Cousteau Glacia .... enviro seals that is, not the DIN converters).

    Kirby Morgan Superflow 2nd stage

The 1st stage is not something I am not that familiar with......it always had Dacor, Parkway or Sportways early 80's look and feel to it to me. Undoubtedly better than those though. It's a balanced piston with swivel and although it looks different to a Scubapro I don't see anything about it...

    Kirby Morgan Superflow 2nd stage

I'm back on charter in Papagayo waiting on guests, so nothing being sold at the moment. Look out for "SeaSport" regulators on eBay as they are rebranded KM's with a different exhaust T. Can be found for less than $20. These are the plastic version. I have not seen any alternate versions of the...

    Kirby Morgan Superflow 2nd stage

Yes, with the adjustment knob they breathe very much like a well tuned Conshelf. Same seats as the Conshelf, red, grey or black, doesn't matter.

    Apeks TX-50 Parts?

Yes the T and TX 2nds are bigger. I do know that the US Divers and older AquaLung faceplates are interchangeable with your Apeks and will have a similar diameter diaphragm, Something like the Cousteau, SE4, Calypso, Glacia will almost certainly be a subsitute.

    Kirby Morgan Superflow 2nd stage

Nice regs and virtually identical to the US Divers 2nd's (metal and 1st gen plastic)......with the addition of the adjustment knob and slightly larger purge button. You'll probably never have to service them as the red seat will last decades.....some lube on the adjustment knob mechanism is all...

    Second opinions on hand-me-down gear

Nothing wrong with a Mares MR16 Akros........great bargain especially for those that self service as the 1st stage is basically a US Divers SEA/Cousteau and can use that regs service kit (much less expensive than the official Mares kit) and are the easiest of all 1st stages to service and...

    Scubapro MK20/G250 used

I believe the UL version is black anodized ..... should be easy to spot. My preference would be the Titan over the Scubapro for a couple of reasons......well only one really and that is to do with the 1st stage (the 2nd stages are a wash as both are balanced barrel poppet type and are much the...

    Help Identifying Old Reg

Herman do you know why that Royal 2nd stage was replaced/recalled? The unusual extra exhaust on the side or less than optimal venture into a balanced 2nd stage? The "flying saucer" had several official names.....Royal, Pro and Conshelf 30.......one of which had three 3/8" and one 1/2" LP hoses...
