I have seen paddlefish in one of the PDR lakes and also in Mystery. Each time I was almost out of sight of the wall and they were almost out of sight the other way,
Was on a boat when a DM went to unhook the boat and his reg shut down at 60 ft. Had to do an emergency CESA. Done diving for the day. Turned out he had put a part in upside down when he had checked it himself. He did not have redundancy since the had leant his other reg to a customer.
I thought the same thing. The answer they are looking for is if a one litre bubble is released and it stays intact what will its volume be when it reaches the surface. Of course it will be different for any physical container. But the point is that the deeper the more air volume/pressure at...
This was on the Indra. He hooks the wreck. Usually when all are back on board he would be able to unhook by circling around at least this is what I gather. But not this time. I had some air and NDL left since I had instabuddied with a couple of newbies for the dive. So I volunteered to...
The time that I dove that boat there was only 5 divers and no crew other than the captain. Do not know if they had no crew that day but at most 4 other divers.
It is easy enough to visualize. At that depth one or both could be narked. One has a problem. The other tries to help and runs out of gas. I know that at 100ft I have to keep reminding myself to check the gas level.
That is a bit informative. They never made it to the surface. No one else saw them in trouble apparently but there were at most 4 other divers. There are several explanations but it narrows down what happened. Whether there was air still in one or both tanks could be helpful in...
I have dove on the Captains Lady. On the time I dove on it there was no mate. Just the captain plus 5 divers. The anchor line did not release and I did a drop to release it, Do not know if that was his usual practice, do not know if that was the case Sunday, and do not know if that was any...
Misc comments. Off NC be it ledges or wrecks, out of the port I use, the standard is a 1 hour SI. (These are typically 80 to 105 ft). The depth variation of structure is usually 20-30 ft. So multilevel plus some times you go above the wreck and just watch things. On a couple shallower...
If the instructor is the shop owner they get the full class fee less the PADI/SSI/SDI cut. I have not tipped. If the instructor/guide/dm is an employee I will tip unless I am unhappy.
If you do this type of dive 10 times you have a 87.5% chance of avoiding a serious hit; 20 is 76.6% while 30 is 67.7%. Clearly if you do it very many times you do not have a good outcome eventually. To have a good income you have to have a good income every time which is why it is not additive.
Back of the envelope you loose about 1 pound for every 10 lb of weight. You will want to do a weight check of course but this gives you an idea of what to expect and bring appropriate weights.
If you dive dry not so much of an issue but with a wetsuit you do not want it too loose. But my...
That works good for some diving conditions. Getting back on a boat latter when seas have picked up I prefer to pass the camera up to crew before I get on the ladder. Been knocked around and onto the ladder a few times.
I also use retractable lines on the camera. It is hooked on as soon as the crew hands it to me in the water and stays attached until I pass it up.
I have light on a short cord, say 10 inches, then a bolt snap. They are kept in a pocket but when I take them out to use I snap them on the BCD...
