    SSI nitrox chapter three questions.

I read the chapter through multiple times, the answer was not there verbatim or even particularly close to the text in the question. I graduated college with a biology and chemistry degree, I understand the concept of homework. As it turns out, the instructor answer sheet for question seven...

    SSI nitrox chapter three questions.

another question 2. When using scuba equipment for nitrox diving, it is important that you comply with ___________ and ______________ and follow ______________. I am pretty sure the last blank is manufacturer's specifications, but the first two blanks need some variation of local laws...

    SSI nitrox chapter three questions.

Well one of the stranger ones is 7. a cylinder contents tag should include the _______,___________,__________,_____________ and _____________. the text says it needs the FO2 and MOD, who analyzed the cylinder and when they did it. It also says it should include the limiting PO2 value used...

    "Bouncing"

I'll second this. On the freediving board I used to frequent that warning was given VERY VERY frequently and discussed in depth, but long story short NEVER freedive with in 24 hours of scuba diving is what they always said. A bounce would have the same dangers associated as freediving I would...

    SSI nitrox chapter three questions.

If this is in the wrong forum, please move it. I'm taking my nitrox class tomorrow, and I am working on the homework questions tonight. Chapters 1 2 and 4 were no problem, but some of the questions in chapter 3 have a LOT of blanks, and the number of blanks doesn't really line up with the...

    Pee Valve vs Catheter.

Ok, the point that has been slightly mentioned here, but not exactly explained is the medical catheters are actually placed IN you. If the part placed IN you was not cleaned well enough, you could get an infection. With the condom cath style, nothing goes IN you, so the problem isn't there.

    What skills can we practice?

I agree I may have been out of line in starting a side discussion in this thread. I appologize for that. I'll leave this side shot with this last comment. I do fully agree, that most beginners can reduce their weight considerably. I also should have made it clear that I use quite a bit more than...

    What skills can we practice?

No, with my set up, I cant remove that weight at all, because its sinking the suit. The suit is bouyant, whether its on someone with one dive, or a million dives, it's still gonna take the same weight to sink the suit. I agree it would be silly to have ONLY 5 pound plates, but when you...

    What skills can we practice?

Maybe because a 7 mil suit needs over 10 pounds in it self, maybe they prefer 2 fives to 5 twos. I know personally i dont like having a large number weights on a belt. I prefer to have the least number of weights I can. That means 5lb+ are a perfectly good option for me.

Bp/wing rental in Nashville TN area?

Title pretty much sums it up. Does anyone know of a shop in the nashville area that rents backplate rigs? I'm planning on going to marthas quarry in a few weeks (my girlfriend is doing her checkouts, and they said we can come hang out and do the "tour dives" at the end with them) and I'm...

    BP / Tank Question

Not trying to be smart here at all, so please don't take it that way, but dont doubles usually sit several inches closer to the person due to the way a single tank usually sits ontop of the ridge down the middle of the plate? How much would moving them closer offset the added weight?

    SMB on a Hog rig

I notice that you mention attaching the bag with zip ties so there's nothing you cant cut loose, BUT i notice that your reel's snap is attached to the reel with a metal bracket. That is not a cutable attachment as you mention. Just thought i'd mention that. I had the same problem with mine...

What's not acceptable for OW training?

Weight integrated is refering to bc's with ditchable weight pockets in them. Should be pretty obvious to anyone who's been around diving or this site very long. Has nothing to do with a heavy backplate.

    1st Dive without instructor

I think alot of the reasoning for that being said is exactly what TSandM mentioned that doing deeper dives after shallower dives generally gives you shorter bottom times than doing the deeper dives first. Its not as much a safety issue as a convience issue.

    Deep, Deeper, Freakin' Deep!

this was a request for LINKS and CREDIBLE INFORMATION about the dives. lazy assumptions like this that ignore the very information given in the original post should not be made, because newer less experienced people tend to take the word of people they feel are more knowledgable...

Thoughts on Training, Panic, and Hazing

This hasn't been talked about all that much in this thread, but I agree that a good skin diving base makes scuba alot easier in my opinion. I had a family trip to hawaii scheduled at a motel with a nice reef RIGHT off the beach, and at the time didn't know about "resort dives" and knew i didnt...

When to take a drysuit class?

I am very suprized that the try before you buy answer hasn't factored in here more. Its been brought up a few times, and I agree, it would be great to be able to try different suits before you buy one, since they cost so much and MAY have to be custom ordered to fit you which would most likely...

    nitrogen filled wetsuit

I think I've heard that they are all filled with nitrogen, but even if they're filled with air, thats around 70% nitrogen, so i doubt it makes much difference in the compression either way.

Ideas on Taking your mask off!

I was going to suggest the same thing, to try exhaling through your nose when your mask is off, that way water wont get up your nose. I know that my biggest discomfort with the mask being off was the bubbles hitting my nose, and exhaling through your nose mostly solves that too. I think the...
