    PADI OW Sidemount Diver

My understanding is it's geared toward technical divers with bad backs. I was also told that OMS will be making a sidemount rig in the near future, with a large lift capacity. This isn't gospel, only rumor.

    River and Lake divers

Fish tend to grow everytime a story is told. Blue cats have been caught in excess of 100 lbs, in the states. A large fish by my standards, but the story would have to be told a few times, before it reached man eating proportions.

Comparing ST doubles to Al doubles

Try this link. Scuba Cylinder Specifications from Tech Diving Limited - 928-855-9400 You should be able to drop 8 lbs from your ballast by switching to DOT E 100's. (commonly and incorectly called HP 100's) As mattboy stated, you are probably overdoing it with an extra six pounds for the...

    Transpac Doubles

Sorry guys, I havn't looked at this thread in a while. Mattyo is right on. I showed a picture of two different rigs (Transpac on the left, backplate on the right ), set up on the same tanks. I was trying to illustrate the difference of mounting holes, but obviously did a poor job of it.

    DR Rec Wing ?

My opinion is to buy the right wing for the job. I have not used the DR Rec wing, but would recommend getting two wings. A single tank wing for now, and a doubles wing later. The price of two wings is very little compared to the cost of technical diving and training, if you go that rout. Just...

    Wetsuit hanger with fan?

To each their own. I bought a hang-air from my LDS for $40. Alot cheaper than the original $90 when they first came out. I like it. I use it on trips, when I know it's going to be cold puting a damp wetsuit on the next morning. I don't use it daily, but it works great for those winter time...

Thank you for the replies. We're looking for places that we can Cavern dive with doubles, without getting in trouble. We will not be diving above our level of training, and are not looking for a place to sneak in. We're just looking for places to practice and have fun while doing it. I think...

Where to cavern dive with doubles?

Hello all, I did a search and came up empty handed. My friend and I are both cavern certified and would like to take basic cave in the spring. We both dive doubles in OW and plan on taking the class in doubles. I have been told that Ginnie will not allow it. Does this include the Ball Room...

Don't know about basic or not ... lights

I have a OMS 10W Hid that I'm not so fond of. It's of poor quality in my opinion. My friend has a Salvo 10W. It has an adjustable focus from flood to spot. The spot works great in low vis, and penetrates the murkey water better than my fixed focus light. I like the Salvo much better than my...

Why Isn't There a Free Market for Scuba Equipment?

Lets not forget that these manufacturers that "back-door" their products to places like LP don't offer "parts for life" and will not even sell an individual regulator parts. Can someone explain how that is not protection?

Twin-engine planes or single tanks, which is better?

Check out the T-34C (turbo mentor) for a real high performance single. It's not pressurized but exceeds 300mph and I think the G-limit is +4.5 -2.5. They are a pain to work on, but I'd love to fly one.
