    Forcefin closes again?!

I love my Force Fins, and I wish I could've gotten a pair of Excellerating or Extra Force, but it looks like I'm just too late. I mean really, for most of us, which dive gear to get is not a survival decision, it's a luxury. Honestly, if I'd wanted those more expensive fins badly enough, I could...

    Santi heated vest - review

Waaaahhhhh! Why is everything $1000? I know this is just what Betty needs. I started looking into DIY'ing it for her, but gave up when it started to look like even that was going to get expensive. I'm not complaining, I'm just whining.

My urge to own a steel tank ...

I'm glad I bought steel tanks. I wish I had more, and larger, steel tanks. I can't ever make it back to the shop before they close, and being able to just go any time is also nice. Another thing: my weight and trim are the same every time. I know just how high to strap the BP on for the best...

    Dry Suit Advice Please!

I'm happy with my High Tide neoprene suit, but there are so many more options available in just the past couple of years. The White's fusion is unlike any other, and I know a smallish diver who loves hers. I've been very curious about the new Bare SB system, but haven't seen any objective...

Oops, that's not Force Fin Pros, that's a Force Fin CON! yuk, yuk, yuk

    Tank chilling

I doubt your tank would retain any heat after ten minutes, probably less. I highly doubt the temperature of the tank at the start of the dive would affect the likelihood of free-flow after 45 minutes. But I don't have any hard evidence to back this up, just my guess from experience.

    dive light

I've used a AA mine mag light for snorkeling, 1.5 meter max depth. It flooded.

Will changes in water density affect perceived object magnification?

No. It will affect magnification, but not enough to perceive, unless you are way more perceptive than most people.

Please help us to select the most suitable Force Fins for us. Thanks

Yeah, I was going to recommend Pros for you and Original for your wife, too. As for the kick, when I was new to Force Fins, I thought (and posted) about it a lot. I thought there was some technique I needed to learn to get the most out of them. I was probably influenced by all the stuff I read...

Where did I go with my force fins?

This trip was different from most of our others, in terms of how people viewed our gear. In Tulum, the steel backplate, HOG rig, and long hose was not strange at all, unlike most other warm-water dive locations. We got plenty of curious interest in our funny-looking fins, but they were not...

Where did I go with my force fins?

AND.. I had my first "handshake" with a Giant Pacific Octopus! Fortunately he let go before Betty had to stab him in the eye with her dive knife! I promised never to poke at a GPO again.

Where did I go with my force fins?

Did you get the part where Betty moves the bull kelp to get it out of the frame? Also, does everybody stomp on the deck every time they put their fins on?

How do basic/novice/inexperienced divers define "What is Advanced Diving?"

Advanced diving, technical diving, recreational diving; to me, terms like that are like rock & roll, progressive rock, heavy metal, hard rock, punk rock, speed metal, death metal, and so on ad infinitum. In other words, there is no universal understanding of the terminology; not even close. So...

    Gas Management Questions?

I'm glad to see another discussion of rock bottom; I think it should be more widely known. One of my early dives (#71) was the Blue Hole in Belize, 130 ft on an AL 80. A group of eight with one (maybe two?) DMs. It didn't seem reckless at the time. Then I read NWGD's website about rock bottom...

did something a bit different this morning ...

Good job, Bob! I listen to that show whenever I can, which is almost never, because I'm at work. I thought it went pretty well. It kills me how nobody ever says, "I went all the way down to 250 feet!" instead it's always (in very casual voice) "I usually keep it above 250." Cheers!

    ending a dive

Sounds interesting. I'd like to know more. What depth are you starting from? Does this simulate an out of gas situation? In other words, do you refrain from inhaling until you stabilize at 20 ft? What rate are you ascending at? Is this in a wet suit or a dry suit? Is your BC empty for this? Are...

Does Sun Screen Kill Coral Reef?

If you dumped the whole bottle out all at once, it might be more apparent that it could cause a problem. It doesn't seem like the few drops on your skin at any one time would make much difference. But even though you only put a tiny bit onto the reef each time, eventually the whole bottle ends...

Self serviceable octo brand? Hog no go? :(

I had an Air2 on my BCD inflator hose. I really liked it. Now that I actually practice air sharing I'm happier with my current setup, which is primary on a long hose, and secondary on a necklace. It's not that doing a controlled ascent while sharing air on an Air2 is impossible, it's just a hell...
