    Morrison Springs

The eels generally hang out inside the cavern itself. Although I know they do, I can't remember seeing them outside the cavern at Morrison. Next time you are there, although it is shallow, it is really cool exploring around all the cypress trees for fish, turtles, etc. I always swim along the...

    Resort style certification in Destin?

Since no one has replied, I thought I would give you my two cents. We don't really have anything I would call resort diving here in Northwest Florida. There are basically two dive shops in Destin, I have provided their links below in case you don't have them. Both shops run nice boats and...

Success rate of boarding plane with Dive Caddy as carry on?

I have nothing but good things to say about mine. Made a live aboard trip to the Galapagos Islands with ONLY my Dive Caddy. No problems through security or getting it on plane. I have a buddy who has borrowed it twice, he has had equally good results. Watch their videos and learn how to pack...

    Destin Jetties Conditions?

Even with a favorable high tide at 12:50 PM, we have had so much rain, and we have so much run off exiting Choctawhatchee Bay through the Destin East Pass, I think conditions will be very poor. The gulf has been brown like the bay lately. I think you will be lucky if you have a couple of feet...

Panama City/St Andrews Saturday, March 1st Condition Report?

We are going to give it a try. Plan on being there around 10AM to check conditions. I am desperate to get back in the water, so even if I have to swim in the kiddie pool I will at least get wet. Can't be worse then the first time I dove at PC Jetties years ago. It was 42 degrees, strong...

Panama City/St Andrews Saturday, March 1st Condition Report?

Since no one seems to have any information, I guess I will have to give a report about conditions once we dive on Saturday. If anyone makes it out to St. Andrews Saturday, look us up. Two divers from Fort Walton Beach will be there.

Panama City/St Andrews Saturday, March 1st Condition Report?

Anyone in the Panama City Beach area that can give me a condition report? We are thinking about heading to St. Andrews Saturday for a dive, but I was wondering how clear the Gulf has been in the PC area, especially at the jetties? We have had a mixture of conditions here in Fort Walton...

    Looking for Morrison Springs conditions.....

Our local paper in Fort Walton Beach just reported that Morrison has been re-opened today, Wednesday February 12, 2014. I posted the link to their Facebook page article. If it doesn't work for some reason, it is being reported in the Northwest Florida Daily News...

The Drought Has Ended-- Destin Jetty Dive Report

I had a damsel grab my ear lobe a few years ago at the jetties....he got my attention until I pried him off my ear!

The Drought Has Ended-- Destin Jetty Dive Report

Thanks Rob...it has been far too long! I literally just sat, (I mean hovered in perfect trim) listened to my bubbles, and watched the damsels protect their territory from other fish. It was great therapy.

The Drought Has Ended-- Destin Jetty Dive Report

The Blue Crabs are for sure lower in number. I only saw one on both dives. Apart from the low Blue Crabs and the abundance of flounder...I would say it was a fairly normal jetty dive.

The Drought Has Ended-- Destin Jetty Dive Report

It has been a year and a half since I made my last dive which is the longest diving drought I have ever had. My dive buddy and I decided to make some early morning dives at the DestinEast Jetty. Thought I would post some surface shots and give a condition report in case someone was planning a...

Destin East Jetty - Possibly Dismantled ???

That's a good idea Mike. I have been watching our local news to see if anything regarding the jetties shows up. I will let everyone know if I hear of anything.

    Bent in Belize--Blue Hole Incident

I have not commented on this thread till I read this quote. I am not sure if you are referring to the experience "after" getting DSC or the whole process? I took a DSC hit over two years ago. If I had it to do all over again....I know many things I would change and there are many things I...

Destin East Jetty - Possibly Dismantled ???

The Destin jetties are affected by tides, currents, seas, and even rainfall. Choctawhatchee Bay empties through the Destin Pass. When there are large tidal changes the water can turn suddenly at the jetties. Nice clear water that was pushing in from the Gulf can suddenly switch and pull...

    Bent in Belize--Blue Hole Incident

This exact thing happened to me while diving in the Galapagos Islands two years ago. If you are not familiar with Galapagos diving, generally you are diving in a group and we had 8 in our group. Basically everyone is diving the same profile. My computer never went in to deco, safety stops...
