I must be a troll as well as I was about to post a similar question before I did a search.:shakehead:
I'm a gadget geek I must admit, and I wanted a a pair after I finished my OW, but after reading all the Force fin info I could, I had to wonder: If the force fin is THE perfect fin, then why...
thanks. Slonda I'll take you up on the
that conshelf I bought was a fluke. I picked it up for $10.00 (2nd stage only) and was planning on disecting it. thought about maybe even doing a cutaway until it arrived. couldn't believe how sturdy it was. Now all I want is to restore it, and find...
I've been to the mountain, and you're right, I was enlightened. didn't mean to derail your post. I was mistaken when I said I had a Conshelf VI, it's actually an XI. it's actually become moot however because I now have an Aqualung DA Aquamaster that I need to get outfitted for. that's why I...
I didn't know that. I thoght that style dated from the late sixties.
what I really want is that military harness that, IIRC you had mentioned in a previous post.
is that pack period at all?
sounds like scuba reenacting to me;)
your post struck a chord with me. I picked up a conshelf VI second stage off of ebay for next to nothing and got hooked. I immediately started thinking about all the contemporary pieces I'd need to do a "period dive."
I now have the plastric back pack...
okay, I'm hooked; gotta have that thunderball reg!
but I gotta know, How involved is it to make this a functioning regulator? are the guts easily obtained?
The info's much appreciated John, thanks! I'll take your advice. that's actually how I was going to approach this thing. I figure you can read about it all you want, but until you jump in, you'll never really learn. I wanted the New science for mainly set up. and to get a feel for an earlier...
there actually is a short blurb on dbl hose regs, but it only amounts to no more than a foot note really. I may keep the current book just as a reference to 70's era diving.
I'm about two hours north of Green Bay. As far as I know, there's no vintage divers within a 100 miles of me. I'd love to find a group though. I asked at one of the Green Bay Shops about vintage enthusiasts and all I got was a blank stare!
I just got a message back from seaocean books...
I just recieved my "1965" edition of THE NEW SCIENCE OF SKIN AND SCUBA DIVING. . . they sent me a 1980 edition instead! needless to say, I'm pretty pissed right now as I've been prepping for my first "vintage dive" and I was hoping to use this book to help with some of the details. Does anyone...
I've got two steel 72s coming (awaiting hydro). they're sequintially numbered and I was planning on doubling them up at some point. as for the banjo adaptor. . . I think I'd rather have the J valve, but I need to weigh the risks.
BTW, I located a 1968 copy of basic scuba.
I fully agree. I've thought about the octo issue ever since I first read about it in my training text and the more I thought about it the more convinced that it's not my redundency, but rather my buddy's. two seconds on one first isn't very redundant IMO.
when it comes to "period...
Thanks Capt. I guess redundancy evolved as the sport evolved?
I see from your avatar that you're wearing a horse collar? is this the "BC" of the time?
My Aquamaster was acquired by my buddy who picked it up from the estate of a vintage diver. So it has been rebuilt, but it hasn't been...
