Their polish and chrome are a cut above, and all but the basic Pacer have the access port for adjustment.

It's much nicer to have a port for tuning, but they are hard to find and many times as expensive as without. I've only seen one or two in the last year on eBay. There's one now on eBay in pretty OK condition with a primary, for a bit over $200.

There are at least two aftermarket 1st stage poppet sources, Trident and VDH (not the military historian), as I recall, and the Mares version works as well. In a pinch you can even resurface them. Conshelfs and 1st Gen Titans are pretty obsolescence-proof.

The answer is because they're slippery as heck on fiberglass decks. Nothing beats them for slick rock however.
