Have you dove Disney's Epcot Dive Quest?

IMO the tour and being behing the scenes is just as cool as the dive. The dive itself is rather tame, but there are two really neat features. One is seeing the people on the otherside of the glass. It's just wierd to be on the wet side of the glass looking out. Also as someone noted earlier, the...

    Hypnautical seats

I had four seats reserved with Capt John on the Hypnautical that I had to cancel this morning due to a work emergency. I feel bad 'cause it's almost a last minute cancellation, so I wnated to post to let everyone know that he may have some seats open on Saturday morning.

Is it worth going to Key West / questions about the Keys!

No question Key Largo has better and more diving spots than the middle or lower keys. Having said that, my favorite Keys dive spot is Looe Key Reef. IMO it is the best reef dive in the Keys and not nearly as crowded as the spots in Largo. I have a special place in my heart for Key West. I've...

    Marathon Gulfside dive locations

I dove both spots earlier this year. There are commercial ops that go there, but mostly for lobster and spearing. It's very shallow, but there is tons of life there. Great spot for yellow tail. IMO it a better snorkle location than a dive location. If you need GPS numbers I can get them for you...

    Best Reef Dives

I would recommend the west end of Looe Key Reef. It's south of Vacca Key but worth the drive IMO. As for dive sites close to Marathon, check out Coffins Patch and of course Sombrero light. You can dive the Thunderbolt (wreck dive, not reef) from Marathon as well.

    Hip replacement & dive training

I don't see why this would be an issue. There is less stress on the hip joint underwater than while standing on land. If the extra weight during egress is an issue, she can learn to do an in water don and doff so she is not carrying the extra weight while under the effects of gravity. I think...

    Help with Buoyancy Math

Tell the divemaster that you have new gear and you need to do a boyancy check before the first dive. He or she will help and you can do it right next to the ladder, no worries. It will take just a minute or two. Then you know for sure and you can get the most out of your dives. Anything esle is...

    Marathon Dive Sites

When you get there stop in at any dive shop or bait and tackle store and buy a hot spots chart. It will have all of the fishing and dive spots mapped with GPS numbers. Sombero is a must see. You really don't need the GPS numbers since it is marked with a big light tower. The eastern (deep) side...

    Johnson Engine Question

These motors are loud, smoky and drink gas like I drink water. Having said that they are among the most reliable outboards made to date. Get a compression test done. You are looking for consistency across all cylinders, one cylinder more than 10% off from the rest is a bad sign. This is very...

Where to dive in July? West Palm Beach or the Keys?

Also, regarding your question about drift diving, no it is not hard to learn at all. One person in the group will carry a line to the float ball and the boat follows along behind as you drift with the current. When you surface the boat comes to you, so its a great way to dive. The only tricky...

Where to dive in July? West Palm Beach or the Keys?

Really, you can't go wrong with either place. The conditions as far as vis and water temp will be similar in both places. Key Largo is a diving mecca for a reason, and Looe Key reef in the lower keys is one of the best reef dives in Florida IMO. Having said that, I dive with Capt Craig on the...

    Dedicated Spearfishing BC

Firemedic, aren't you glad we don't live in Australia, UAE, France or Brazil? (just kidding!) The Stiletto is a good recomendation. I like to recommend Zeagle because they are a Florida company, and they make a really good product. The features you are looking for, I think, are simplicity, don't...

    Wobasso Beach conditions

I agree with you about Craig, he runs a good boat, and Linda is just amazing. We did the Delray ledges, my favorite dive down there. We stayed in the inside (65ft.) ledge because the current onthe outside was really ripping. Sorry for the confusion in my post, I have my own boat that I keep...

    Wobasso Beach conditions

Thanks for the updates, ended up driving down to Lanatna to dive on the Starfish. Turned out to be the right decision. I see we are in for a big swell this week, so I guess the beach diving will have to wait a bit longer. Scuba Dad- do you have experience diving out of Canaveral? I am...
