i bought it when i first got certified. figured that the purge would be helpful. about 50 dives later, i still have yet to use the purge. i just clear my mask normally. the mask itself is nice, but i don't think i'd ever get one with a purge again.

from my limited dives, all the headaches i've encountered was because i did shallow breaths or swam against the current (over-exertion). so i would say maybe co2 is the reason? just try to relax, concentrate on breathing deeply and swim slowly. there's no finish line to get to anyways...
