I had similar thoughts as @Gone for diving. You described your scuba class experience but what is your general water experience? Have you done snorkeling? How much? settings (shore/boat/different location). I think being very comfortable in a water helps scuba training.
Weather wise your chances are good in November. Hurricane season will be winding down and winter winds usually arrive later. As for Calypso going to a particular site on a particular day, I am not sure. I usually dive in Jupiter and they are semi receptive for particular dive sites requests.
I enjoyed it in June. Although it was a beginning of rainy season but it was dry with good vis. Are you planning to go now or after monsoon is over? Corals are not the main attraction in Maldives anyway, but I did see few nice coral spots mainly on top of some thilas. I heard complains about...
I visited maldives mid June this year and so far no bleaching and water 83-84 degrees. But on many reefs there is not much to bleach, corals have not recovered from past events. And also they will experience warmest water later this year, August through October
I have both user replaceable and custom. Both work but I have more clear, sharp vision in custom and currently using mostly it. May be it is pupil distance which is taken into account in custom, may be something else
Plan looks good and it looks like you are in control and you can always adjust. Is anything else in this lake to see or is it business only dives. What is water temperature. Do you expect to stay comfortable?
I saw few people in Florida in dry suits but not many, may be 3 or 4 out of a 100+ trips. When water and air are around 70 with some breeze it gets chilly especially between dives in 5mm
During winter florida may be cool and windy but also may be very nice with air in 80s and water in 70s. Current cold spell will pass in a few days. I never dove Marathon, but Tavernier has nice sites and shops and a little closer.
I agree with Bob. Very occasionally. While there are shallow 20-40 feet sites, e.g. Florida keys which accommodate both divers and snorkelers, most snorkelers just flopping on a surface.
Jupiter is ideal for nitrox. Nitrox will give you around 45 min bottom time on most popular sites while air is only about 25 min. Reefs further south such as pompano is a little shallower, more suitable for air
In my case I may need to travel abroad and return to US from a place where I can get either PCR test without much hassle day before or come to airport without test and go for antigen test at the airport but I do not have much information of how much time I need. Even if test takes 30 min but...
Does anybody planning to travel with overnight PCR test? If plane departs in the afternoon and overnight PCR is ready in the morning of departure. I assume that results will be still checked by airline at the registration. Do I need to be tested less then 24h before registration or plane...
Yes, sounds like a plastic rot. Saw this couple month ago. Guy on a boat had good looking BC, don't remember which company, about 5 yo, and entire plastic support on a back, supporting tank just disintegrated into pieces at once.
