The dumbest post in SB history

This is by far not the dumbest post on SB. There are a lot of dumb posts on SB.

Has anybody ever used a regulator intended to be the primary, as a secondary?

In reference to your primary/secondary question. Most tec folk dive the same reg as their 2nd regardless if it is their primary or secondary. So no, it would not look at all odd.

    Snorkel for DM Testing

This is it and that is where I think I got mine! You can adjust the slide for the mask holder, but it is tough. I frankly find I just slip mine, even when freediving, between the mask strap and my head.

    Snorkel for DM Testing

Omer Zoom is a large bore snorkel. It is rigid enough for freediving yet I can still fold it up and put it into a pocket.

New to MD, looking for dive buddies

Dutch is probably the best of the 'local' diving. I've been to hydes once...once. I went late last December figuring not too many folks would have been in and not kicked up. Pea soup below 20ft. I may as well have blacked out my mask. Highlight of the dive was I moved the toilet...

    Help an OW diver out.

There are a lot of bad divers out there regardless of certification. There are a lot of real good divers out there regardless of certification. Regardless of your certification, dive within your experience and comfort. I was close to 200 dives when I got my AOW, Divemaster, and...

    Thanks guys!

    Nomad EXP or Nomad XT?

Title says it all! I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger. Basically I'm looking to ditch the doubles rig for open water, mild wreck penetration diving and do it side mount style. Between the EXP or the XT, which one and why? One caveat...I don't have a ton of money, but if...

    Volunteer divers and employed divers

I speculate that varies based upon the individual aquarium. At NAIB, the aquarium provides gloves, tanks, weights, BCD and a regulators. We provide mask, fins, booties and wetsuit. We are allowed to bring in our own reg as long as we provide proof of maintenance. I know of one guy...

    Volunteer divers and employed divers

It is a bi-weekly commitment. The exact wording is you need to commit to coming to 20 of the 26 possible dive day throughout the year. Also, shifts are not necessarily only available during the weekdays. There are 14 teams. There are two Sunday shifts and two Saturday shifts. My...

    Volunteer divers and employed divers

I'm one of the volunteer divers at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We have 14 teams of 10-14 divers per team. I love it. I've been on the teams for almost two years. There are guys, and gals, that have been volunteering there since the early 80's. We feed two exhibits in 4 dives in...

What do most Scuba divers do for a living?

As a fighter pilot, how do you dive? I'm assuming that you fly regularly, and that you could get a call at some point to say, "oh were doing a no fly zone over Lybia tomorrow." Let's go with the 24hour no fly rule...how do you do your job? (I in no means am trying to be rude...

What do most Scuba divers do for a living?

I'm a carpenter. I know doctors, lawyers, sales, you name it. The one true commonality is they all have jobs. I don't know of too many broke divers that still dive.

    nitrox

Aside from the full face mask. I have not seen it. If someone is having an "O2 hit" or CNS, does not mean an automatic death sentence. It is entirely possible that someone can be rescued from this in SCUBA and survive. We're talking about EAN and the possibility of oxtox, which is...

    nitrox

:confused::confused: That just doesn't make sense. Getting bent can kill you. You can survive a seizure underwater. What on earth does that have to do with PP filling or banked EAN systems? To the OP. Get Nitrox certified. Learn about Nitrox. Learn about Nitrox...

    All new gear and buoyancy

If you put the snorkel where it belongs (folded away in a pocket) your buoyancy and trim will get much better. You don't have all that drag pulling your head to the left.

    BCD help

A BP/W set up. Get yourself a basic hog harness and a BP. You need to figure out if you need an AL or SS plate. You can get yourself a plate that has slots cut out so that cam bands can weave through it for single tank usage. Get yourself a wing for doubles and a wing for singles...

Do Commercial Divers need OW cert?

muddiver sort of hit in on the nail head. Another reason to is some clients may require it. I can think of one, and I don't dive commercially.

Three strikes and you're out... I've now written off PADI

I like what he said. No offense, but your postings come off a wee sarcastic. Sarcasm just doesn't translate well. Could it also be language barriers? Throw in a healthy dose of sarcasm and you may as well be Hungary and Germany with NATO right now.
