I dive in a drysuit normally and have two big pockets on the front of my legs. That's where my strobe goes at the moment. However, I was also thinking of installing a pocket at the back on my Transpac so that I can store it out of the way yet still be able to easily reach it. Either way will...

The Jotron strobe finally arrived. It's beautiful - very solidly made and it's compact. Not having too much space on my Transpak, this will make a perfect addition to the kit. Now need to do a try-dive. Also the choice of the solid slide-switch was a winner, it seems very easy to turn-on-off...

Thanks everyone. I've decided to get the Jotron AQ4 strobe. It offers best mix of performance, value for money and robustness for me.

I guess I was thinking of the AA requirement as convenience when I go on a trip and only have to carry one type of batteries. But I see your point, thanks.

I saw one of those in the LDS. They're quite small. I think they would be good if you were wearing one strapped to your tanks.

The Firefly Plus looks good and has the added advantage on being omni-directional. It says it's good to 100m, but doesn't specifically say it's for diving use. Does anyone know if the Xenon light globes are robust (shock proof)? I have a HID canister light and you have to be careful with...

I just had a look at the Jotron strobe and I think this is what my friend had. It looks very well built and I like the single sliding on button. You wouldn't get any problems turning it on with think gloves on your hands.

I was taken aback by your question. I don't see many (if any) divers who dive to those depths without proper training and equipment. Perhaps I've grown accustomed to the strict guidelines my dive club and instructors place on tech diving. cheers Mike

Thanks for the suggestion. The key reason is to mark the anchor line or entry point in poor visibility conditions. Say for example you are doing a wreck dive and visibility is not so good. Apart from knowing directionally which way to go, I saw other divers on occasions attach a flashing strobe...

I'm shaken by your question .... of course I've taken courses.

Well, at the moment I dive to 50m but I envisage doing deeper stuff in the future. So anything rated down to 100m and bright flashes, rugged construction will do. I do like being able to see it from quite a distance. A friend of mine used his on a bunch of night dives and it was fantastic. I'm...

Hi everyone I'm looking for any suggestions of which strobe light to get (not the photography kind - rather, the flashing find your way back kind). I do a bit of technical diving and want something that's simple, bright, rugged, not too big and runs on AA batteries. I recently saw some...

Yep, V-Planner with VPM-BE option on. I've done a number 50m dives on that and it's fullproof for me.

    D9 titanium

Why do you buy any jewellery? I don't think it's out of need - it's just a want!

    D9 titanium

No, but by comparison the steel stinger was AUD1300 and the titanium version was AUD2200. I would imagine the same or similar would apply to the D9. Regardless of the price, that one good looking watch. Even if I weren't a diver I would consider buying it.

    D9 titanium

Has anyone seen the D9 titanium? It looks very hot!! Almost as hot as Scarlett Johansson in a hot tub. Does anyone know when it's coming out?

What's your favorite AI comp. and why?

Indeed, you clearly know everything there is to know about dive computers... relax a bit and enjoy a bit of diving first.

yeah, that was pretty cool wasn't it. Almost like a symphony underwater ... at least all the fishes came around to check us out ...:D

Why would you not buy a Draeger Dolphin?

While I agree that would be a cool expedition, in my case the realities are as follows: - Cost of expedition: US$3895 ~ AU$5400 - Cost of airfare to Bahamas: ~ AU$1500 Total: ~ AU$6900 For that money I can do 138 boat...

    Uwatec SmartTec

I found the Vytec about as big but nearly twice as thick. It felt like a brick in my hands. the SmartTec feels modern and streamlined in comparison.
