Accident at Lake Rawlings Sunday 05/27/2012

Perhaps we should wait for the coroners report on what may have caused her death, prior to all of the speculations as to whom may be at fault. Could more have been done to save her? Until all of the information is on the table, no one will know. It is just a sad incident, and hopefully a...

Article: Just Say Thanks - SUDS Diving

It is great seeing something like this for our veterans. They have given so much over the years, thank you for your service.

How dry is a dry suit ?

The inflator may have a slight leak around the gasket, may need to be tightened slightly. Water at the shoulders or just around the exhaust valve. Water at the exhaust could be caused by hitting the valve when not being at the highest point or low air in the suit. Water around the wrist can...

What the the Scuba Diving movies?

"Fool's Gold" is a good movie with some diving. Stars Matthew McConahay. "Deep Blue"--Jessica Alba, I think.

    You and the IRS

They are just doing their jobs..., but isn't it their responsibility to keep an eye on their air? Remember the burden of proof?

    What's a trust me dive?

It is also like the OS handle in a car. You hold on and hope for the best. NOT A GOOD way to make a dive. You will want to be comfortable with the dive and plan, otherwise call the dive.

    scared of water

    Log book signature

You guys are both certified divers, right? Signing off on each book is perfectly acceptable. Your first cert dives are generally signed by the instructor, but after that it is on you. Likewise you are responsible for your own safety. What would you gain by faking a log book?

    which Dry suit

As Muddiver said, the X-treme is a good, inexpensive suit. I love mine. Any of the Viking Pro suits would also be good.

Scubapro MK2 Plus/R295 Regulator as Starter

I have a MK2/190 setup and a MK20/D400 setup. The only reason I went to a different reg was the fact that the MK2 is unbalanced. The MK20 is on the way back to SP, it is leaking air from the turret. It is all good until its broke.:D

    Minimum age for Scuba Diving

My oldest daughter got her cert at 12. My younger two are asking to go diving, they are 10. I haven't seen enough maturity in them to let them, yet. Hopefully at 12 they will have reached a more mature level. I really think the parents need to determine if the kids can handle the...

    Dry suit recommendation

I have used an Atlan Neoprene suit. It was a nice suit and needed minimal undergarments. Now, I use a Viking X-treme. Love it. I saw recently that they have some newer suits that have a yellow top or even red. Good luck.

Resort Scuba Certification-Is This for Real?

My brother-in-law did something similar when he was in Mexico. I would suspect that it is only a "discover scuba cert." Have you seen the certification? I would highly doubt that your friend has a OW card. If you have doubts, then perhaps that is your answer to your question.

    Divers and offspring

I have three girls. Doubt if diving had anything to do with that, but who knows?

    Advice - BC purchase

On the not so bp/w, you could go with the ScubaPro Knighthawk, which is a back inflate, but not a true wing. It is great when diving a drysuit. Easy off when out of water also. Another option is the SP Glide. It is a marriage between the jacket style and the back inflate. It happens to be...

    Chicken or the egg?

I am currently working on my NAUI Master Diver. However, the quarry that is local to our area is only 75'. Rawlings is only 60-70'. I haven't been anywhere that I can get over 100'. As far as comfort level, I don't think I would have any problems, but their literature seemed somewhat...

    Chicken or the egg?

Thanks. I don't under estimate the diving off of NC. It was a bit disappointing to see the requirements, especially when they want divers to come and make the dives. Is the DM an extra charge for the dives?
