    LDS Membership Benefits

MY Local Dive Shop just give out a card that will get me 2% off. I'm pretty sure they just mark eveyrthing up 2% more. I think it was some scam they read up on.

Newbie in need of dive vacation advice

I think you've got lots of options. And it sounds like your concerns have been addressed pretty well.... so I won't dwell there. One thing I didn't see the was an answer to your nervousness. Start diving in your local area as much as possible. I think you would get a lot more comfortable...

Thank You Oahu (a dive report)

uh-oh. I think we found someone who is almost as good at taking pictures as Catherine is. (the first shot is a beautiful shot of the corsair.) at first i thought it was the eels on the bottom left, then I realized those are scuba fins.

    Flooded Ikelite

same advice really. Your the place you bought it has all the connections so they should be able to help you. I'm curious though, how did it flood? :) Let us know how this situation ultimately turns out for you, it will be good to know.

    The Guardian

There were some posts on this movie when it first came out. I haven't seen the movie myself. I agree with ya though, If I see someone with MOF, I would look for other signs before I worried about there being an emergency.

    Topic help needed

Wow, looks like some great topics have come up. You could also do something on the different types of wild-life. Maybe What is living in your local great lakes, or what used to live there. Maybe ideas for getting rid of Zebra Muscles. Or maybe a lesson on general Marine Biology / Zoology...

    Help please on OW

I agree with everyone else. I would think your LDS would get you going again real easily. But yes, you should have to do some refreshing... it'll be worth it anyway cuz you'll be safer when you are in the Open Water. Good Luck, I ruptured my ear-drum a few years back. I had to be out of the...

    Keeping warm between dives

What great advice :) I think its pretty simple. The least technological way to do it is: warm Drinks and have a nice warm hat to put on. Make sure you dry off your head and hands. I like the suggestions of inflating the dry-suit, I hadn't thought of that.

Stolen Weight Belt in Daytona BEach FL

That sucks about the weight belt. I'm glad that's all it was though. I hate it when something like that happens and you're trying to take such good care of stuff you borrowed from somebody else. You should be good with carry-ons on the cruise ship. I've never taken a lot on, but I've never...

Some thoughts after NAUI Master course and a year in diving

I work for a university, I never thought about going beyond my Rescue Diver... for free. Oh, but it looks like they only have as far as Rescue on their course list. :( Anyway, I really like your insight about waiting vs. not waiting to do more. I definitely feel the first 3 Padi Certs would...

Does the owner of your LDS dive?

I've lived a couple of places and most of the LDS owners & employees seemed to dive a lot. However the diving they were doing was more tailored to getting other people to dive: Setting up trips, weekend lake diving, Instructions etc... I can see how it would be difficult to dive a lot if it...

    Buddy monogamy

In college, I dove with a wide array of people. I was a "anyone I could get in the water" kind of person.... still am. I like diving with my spouse though and I'm more comfortable. I'd suggest diving with another couple and once in a while pairing off and explore different areas with your...
