Yes, Tank Ha goes directly to the dive sites. I don't remember how long the boat rides are except that it seems easier than taking the ferry and then getting on another boat to the dive site. Seems like we got back to Playa mid-afternoon.

Tank Ha is a good dive shop in PDC. Offers ocean dives, cenotes and takes their boat to Cozumel rather than using the ferry. Have always had positive experiences with them on all 3 types of dives.

Maybe just the usual - pack a bathing suit in your carry-on in case luggage is delayed, especially if some plan to mostly spend time at the beach or pool. Haven't been to Little Cayman but you might find some suggestions in the Cayman forum. Have a great trip !

If you should decide to give Cozumel another chance, Scuba Club Cozumel does offer triple occupancy rooms, is mostly all-inclusive, and has boats that would meet your needs, While I have not stayed there, I've walked through property and talked to people who have and it gets good reviews...

While Barracuda is a very basic hotel, it is clean, safe, convenient, and rooms have min-fridges.

If the bubbles in a beanie or hood are part of the problem, try putting a small hole in the top and see if that helps - it works for me !

Stayed there many times and never noticed the a/c being noisy, although some of the ceiling fans wobble quite a bit. The rooms I've had lately all seem to have newer refrigerators and TV's, some have had the showers re-tiled. It can definitely be noisy and crowded with cruise ship crews...

You are right - I've never needed to use either the temporary or permanent card that was mailed. Have not been over to Canada in a long time so don't know about that !

When I had my interview in Detroit, it took 5 minutes and was approved and ready to use right away with a temporary card. Hopefully yours will go just as well !

I still have my basket & specialty card from taking that class too - it was lots of fun and really good buoyancy practice as a beginning diver !

Dive Paradise still picks up divers at Hotel Barracuda but no longer has a location there. They do have the same small office near Rock'n.Java but have moved their primary shop location to Hotel Cozumnel. Unless something has changed in the last 10 months, the dive op at the hotel is Scuba...

After re-scheduling 3 times this past year, finally made it back to Cozumel the week of April 10-17 after getting vaccinated. Probably was safer from Covid there than back home at this point.

Definitely prefer integrated weights but will wear a weight belt if renting gear and it's the only option. In that case, I bring my own weight belt with pockets which is more comfortable and I know will fit.

I agree with the suggestion for Tank Ha - have dove with them many times and always been very satisfied !

While I prefer a one-piece suit for comfort and coverage, a tankini or other 2 piece suit has an advantage when using the head. It's usually close quarters and often the boat may be rocking so the less you have to remove and get back into, the easier it is !

If you do get a full suit, it still wouldn't hurt to bring the shorty. I wear a 3 mil full suit for the 2 morning dives, and use the 3 mil shorty with a skin for the afternoon dive. It's always nice to have a dry suit to put on !
