No one's saying, but one has to wonder if the Navy / Port Captain / Local Authorities threatened a big fine if they didn't remove it (since these folks are local, unlike the Russian mobster who skipped town after his sailboat capsized in a storm near the same area.)
You're welcome, but all good things must come to an end. I'll be wrapping up my daily updates at the end of June. Perhaps someone else will pick up the baton?
Fully refloated. Appears they are still pumping out water: https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/106243472_151319909799729_7704411059927539036_o.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_sid=2d5d41&_nc_ohc=ktIJHCiCQXIAX_s4VZk&_nc_ht=scontent-mia3-1.xx&oh=d7804438502eb0cdfb1aa50a9455dd36&oe=5F1BE4BD
Ship was partially refloated on Saturday and towed off the reef to shallower waters (sorry, no new wreck diving!). Video at their FB page; it sounds like they need to reposition some of the lift bags and possibly make other assessments of the integrity of the hull, with work resuming tomorrow...
That adds $110 MX, about $5 US, each way to your dive trip cost (from Centro). And that assumes you don't get a taxista that tries to gouge you on the price. Add 20% for capacity restriction surcharge and it's starting to get expensive. But I guess folks are desperate to dive.
