Blue Springs Waldron Indiana Official Thread

I hope the diving fees that are being collected in the mean time are going to the proper recipient? We dove (or attempted to) on June 11th. There were O/W check outs in progress and few other divers there as well.

Losing one of our own: Chantal Theriault

We are looking forward to our fourth annual trip to dive with Wayne Green and his company. Sadly, we won't be able to enjoy Chantal's bright smile and French-Canadian charm. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to Wayne and all who were close to Chantal.

    PacketSniffer - Richard Mork Passes

Spending a week in Roatan with Packet on our boat was a total blast (Yellow Boat ROCKS!!). From the first days when he had to borrow Pue's wetsuit and using a stage bottle reg with the SPG in his ear to later in the week watching him do his best white man's dance. He went on a night dive with...

Blue Springs Flood Photos and Story

Phillips Quarry is only $7, but no amenities beyond porta potties in summer months AFAIK. There is a heated shack during winter, but no potties in winter. Diving quarries take a LOT of work by both the owners and the area dive shops. Many of the docks at Gilboa are built by dive shops...

    Where's Moonie ?

That thread is hillarious! A thread that has it's own smilie is something else. I only read it sporadically. Might have to give it more attention to see who has been participating. I tried to bump it to it's 2800th (I think) post but got beat out.

It's just a matter of trust...

Too bad dive manufacturers don't have demo days at regional dive sites like they have for snow skis and snow boards. It would be great to test dive 2 or 3 different types of gear to know what you might actually prefer. Very few LDS's carry a variety of rental gear for customers to try before...

    Where's Moonie ?

ZD = zendiving. There is a trip to Fiji next year through zendiving. Moonie attended a trip to Roatan last May that comprised a mix of SB, ZD, and CHUM divers. He was a big hit with all. Many ZD members, like chaseh and myself, are also on SB.

    Belize Nekton Pilot: Crewmember lost

It's all been debated ad nauseum already. As a new member, if you search for any of the terms solo, GUE, DIR, smoking, etc. you will find thousands of posts containing endless debates. Each diver must make their own choices and must be prepared to take responsibility for understanding the...

    Belize Nekton Pilot: Crewmember lost

Way off topic but my guess is some are just jealous that nobody was hitting on them. ;) I know of a select few former - long time - liveaboard crew members who met passengers that became their current - long time - SO's. I know of several former crew members who are now married to other...

    Belize Nekton Pilot: Crewmember lost

This incident was a passenger, not a crew member, and was NOT solo diving. He was never more than 40 feet from a buddy during this 10 minute dive just below the boat. His reg wasn't out of his mouth more than 20 seconds, probably less. He was among 5 buddies. Crew administered CPR and O2...

Roatan- Just how bad are the bugs?

CCV's dive lockers aren't always breezy enough to keep them critters off. Love the place and we were very faithful about the DEET - for the most part. I forgot to rinse and reapply after playing with the resident golden retriever in the water just before dinner. My ankles got bit that night...

    Questions about wearing a BP/W w/o a wetsuit

Rash guard probably better than t-shirt so harness can glide over the material easily when getting into/out of gear. Rash guard will likely rinse and dry better between dives than t-shirt.

Roatan- Just how bad are the bugs?

Resorts that hover at the edge of the land mass are really built over mangrove "swamps", if you will. No-see-ums live there. If staying at CoCoView, Fantasy Island you will definitely need to keep the DEET on at all times - especially if just coming out of the water and still wet...

    Why do people do this?

And they are such overt morons they actully leave their NAME! I'd have given the photo to every dive op in the area so they could check their logs then turn the idiots over to authorities and/or publicly humiliate them where possible (hometown LDS??). Sadly I assume this is the work of yet...

Anyone use Sony for their UW photography?

If there is a jog dial that controls more than one setting be wary. These types of camera controls don't play nice with Ikelite housings. Topside they're awesome but once there is pressure the housing knob can wreak havoc with jog dials as they start to run by themselves constantly changing...

    Overnight in Puerto Rico

If you can, you should check out the beaches of Pinones - very near the airport. Places to eat and drink right on the beach. I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Isla Verde and was very pleased with my room and the hotel restaurant. A friend took me to Soleil at Pinones for a really good...

Fujifilm RVP 220 Fujichrome Velvia 100-F Color Slide film

I bought the wrong stuff - and a lot of it too! I have four Fujifilm RVP 220 Fujichrome Velvia 100-F Professional Color Slide (Transparency) Film (ISO-100) - Pro Pack 5 Rolls. I meant to buy 35mm film and can't use this. I will sell it for $35 for each 5-pack including shipping (retails...

One more question before I order.

I have just today ordered the E900 camera and housing. Both should arrive by this weekend if all goes well :D I would recommend using the diffuser any time that you are using the camera's internal flash to reduce backscatter and take off any harse lighting at close distance. You might be...

7.2 Megapixel Sony CyberShot DSC-V3 Camera and Ikelite housing for sale. Camera includes 1GB Compact Flash and 1GB Memory Stick! Also included are video cables, remote controller, and battery charger. Both used for only a handful of dives and are in VERY good condition. Sony DSC-V3...

    what's best liveaboard for a non-diving spouse?

I'd suggest either AquaCat or one of the Nektons. Both are huge multi-level boats so it feels more like a houseboat with different spaces to hang out. Both have nice salons with DVD/VHS players and a library of tapes and books. Both have hot tubs and nice sun decks as well as tables in fresh...
